nicki may well outsell missy, lauryn, kim, etc. within a few years but that def hasn't happened yet
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Friday, 30 March 2012 16:26 (fourteen years ago)
some of the pop stuff on here is so bad that it actually makes me appreciate "starships" (which listening to it more is basically an amalgamation of "california gurls" and "til the world ends")
― J0rdan S., Friday, 30 March 2012 16:30 (fourteen years ago)
nicki accidentally emailed "whip it" to birdman instead of the creative director for the mario kart wii sequel, right?
― J0rdan S., Friday, 30 March 2012 16:37 (fourteen years ago)
also kinda disappointed that "hov lane" doesn't turn into the throwback 99 cash money track that it threatens to be in the first three seconds
― J0rdan S., Friday, 30 March 2012 16:57 (fourteen years ago)
also this is sorta nitpicking cuz i do think the rap tracks at the beginning (save "champion" are great) but this reminds me of the ross tape from this year where it feels like the person is really at the top of their game and in a perfect and very singular place with their sound and then they throw half the verses at guest rappers.
i mean, i like ross & cam on "i am your leader" but i need three verse from nicki on that
― J0rdan S., Friday, 30 March 2012 17:07 (fourteen years ago)
i realise how nerdy "alternative track listings" are but this album begs for it

THERE, 12 TRACKS, THAT IS ALBUM LENGTH AND WOULD HAVE BEEN SO AMAZING
― lex pretend, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:18 (fourteen years ago)
"whip it" and "automatic" are my two favorites of the pop stuff, i guess
― J0rdan S., Friday, 30 March 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)
"Come on a Cone" is fabulous. I've been playing for the kids all morning.
― Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 30 March 2012 17:22 (fourteen years ago)
i love the finality with which she sings "SUCK A BIG DICK" on the "i am your leader" hook
― lex pretend, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:26 (fourteen years ago)
six people in my office turned around when she sang that hook
― Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 30 March 2012 17:29 (fourteen years ago)
then the associate dean of the journalism walked in and said, "Hey guys! What's goin' on?" and I said we were discussing the newly leaked Minaj album.
"Do you think she's talented?" His lips curled as if to suggest the answer was obvious to anyone with a molecule.
"I love her flow and jokes," one of the students said.
"It's not because she's 'controversial' [SCARE QUOTES]? I dunno. It's a dead genre. It needs a new wave."
I said, "Do you want new wave or do you want the truth?" He didn't get the remark and changed the subject.
― Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 30 March 2012 17:35 (fourteen years ago)
Kill that dude IMO.
I trust Lex on this so I am going to only obtain the tracks he lists above and order them accordingly.
― Tim F, Friday, 30 March 2012 22:32 (fourteen years ago)
"christopher bosh" is such a lol and hardbody punchline
― dayo, Friday, 30 March 2012 22:40 (fourteen years ago)
somebody please surgically remove weezy from roman reloaded
― dayo, Friday, 30 March 2012 22:41 (fourteen years ago)

add starships (daleplay remix) between pound the alarm + va va voom, and yes this is the perfect tracklist
― nowadays suckers seem to be so fucking naïve (uberweiss), Saturday, 31 March 2012 00:13 (fourteen years ago)
every song with "roman" in the title can fuck off imo
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:13 (fourteen years ago)
also lol at "beez in the trap" apparently being in the amazing unimpeachable half of the album, maybe i don't need to hear this
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:15 (fourteen years ago)
the track she did at the grammy's sounds muuuuuch better on the album... really cool drums and she pulls off the chorus really well. it's prob one of the best few songs on the album.
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:18 (fourteen years ago)
cant stand the chorus personally :/
― dayo, Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:22 (fourteen years ago)
still diggin beez in the trap
― dayo, Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:23 (fourteen years ago)
"beez in the trap" kinda grew on me... it's being overrated as the best song on the album but the beat is pretty hot
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:24 (fourteen years ago)
yeah the beat is what makes it
― dayo, Saturday, 31 March 2012 03:26 (fourteen years ago)

like a really good album would be like the the 3 good songs from Pink Friday, 8 good songs from this, then like "Itty Piggy," "Beam Me Up" and that all-Nicki mix of "Monster" that someone made.

thankful for this

Caramanica wrote a piece on nicki for the nyt
― D-40, Sunday, 1 April 2012 04:32 (fourteen years ago)
is it good? what does it say?
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Sunday, 1 April 2012 11:20 (fourteen years ago)
it's caramanica so i assume it's not good
― lex pretend, Sunday, 1 April 2012 11:29 (fourteen years ago)
oh lex stfu
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Sunday, 1 April 2012 11:36 (fourteen years ago)
don'tcha just love how people who spend half their time snarking on artists or writers or whatever suddenly get pissy when someone snarks on someone they like

― THIS TRADE SERVES ZERO FOOTBALL PURPOSE (DJP), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:41 (fourteen years ago)
lex hadn't you like not even heard of caramanica until he wrote positively of drake a year ago or something? if you're gonna not know shit then just not know shit and shut up about it.
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)
um, you are incorrect.
― lex pretend, Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:32 (fourteen years ago)
there are several writers whose thoughts on nicki minaj i'd be very interested to read, caramanica is certainly not one of them.
― lex pretend, Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:34 (fourteen years ago)
we all know what you're proud to not hear and not read. i think i'd like to take up my own not-experiencing-things diet starting with those types of lex posts.
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:39 (fourteen years ago)
why would i be interested to read something by someone who's never written anything i've enjoyed reading?
― lex pretend, Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:45 (fourteen years ago)
idk, you read ilx threads
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:46 (fourteen years ago)
it's not as though deej provided a particularly compelling explanation of why we should read it
― lex pretend, Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:46 (fourteen years ago)
deej has a weird thing about giving us a heads up anytime caramanica or nabisco publishes anything, idgi but that's neither here nor there
― Eisbaerg Slim (some dude), Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:51 (fourteen years ago)
i like the inadvertent trolling of azealia banks by spending multiple paragraphs talking about how she follows in the footsteps of minaj
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 April 2012 20:00 (fourteen years ago)
sorta think that piece is all over the place
