yeah brussels affair is the best stones boot, that perth one is great too. lotsa stuff from 72-73 is killer. also one from Leeds 71 is sweet
I loaded down a lot of shows a couple of years back including that lot. I burned them onto CDs for my car. Great times.
About a week later I had to drive my (much) younger cousin on a long trip up the country. I happened to have Amy Winehouse's Back to Black on the stereo when I picked him up. He was sniggering at me for it, then with a flourish produced Beggar's Banquet, and was all 'time to put on some real music'. I could've let him know that if he lifted the Back to Black case he could take his pick from the half-dozen awesome boots that he'd never heard of, but I got a kick out of letting him think he was converting the square.
In retrospect it was definitely time to pull rank though.

xp At the time, I preferred Keith's singing to Mick's. But that was mainly because Mick had just put out those two crappy solo records ("Let's Work" was on MTV far more frequently than it had any right to be, which is to say, more than once), and the way he sang "competition" in "Winning Ugly" made me think, that guy there, if he doesn't stop it, man...― Dancing with Mr. T (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, March 28, 2012 2:22 PM (2 hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

Can't say I envy Jagger there, prime target having to try to keep all that together (but I do really like that take of Under My Thumb, despite everything)

I hated cutting "Bitch," it was one of the last to go, but I rationalized that "Stray Cat Blues" and a couple of others would maintain the sleaze factor of my ballot.

m@tt otm that one week is a really agonizingly short amount of time to contemplate catalogs this huge and rich. but then anytime someone gives a poll a 2 or 3 week window people freak out about how they won't get to do their Letter To Cleo tracks poll until November.

fwiw if the ILX Poll Gods see fit I have no issue with extending the polling period. just had the impression we're trying to keep things tight.

also: fantastic Charlie drumming (love when he switches to using the hi-hat) and the best enunciation of "Pavlov dog" in rock history.

No objection here to extending balloting -- I hope it results in more votes! It's impossible to know if there are many ilxors out there who were on the fence about voting if only they had more time.

i'm down for extending the listening party for an extra two days, with ballots due the same time on Sunday, April 1. i'd still be able to roll out results on the same calendar.
