heard a couple tracks last year that i didn't much like, and just listened to "blue chips" with similar results. so what do i need to hear to understand? i mean, he's obviously talented, a great writer, but from what i've heard, i just don't like his energy & voice. doesn't appeal to me as pop music. and i like ghostface.

this really sucks, i like action.
also i had somehow tried to work around all his hateful misogynist shit in my head because he seemed good natured somehow, and obviously that was bullshit.

ultimately, i like him but he's just not worthy of support at this point.

i said there's a difference but on the other hand my point is that making a big deal about the difference is part of the problem - shouldn't we be boycotting any rapper who says faggot or no homo instead of saying it's not a problem until that attitude turns into a physical action? obviously i'm not saying anything new here, it's been an issue forever, and i'm not pointing fingers, i listen to music that has ugly attitudes/words that i don't agree with too, it's just very disheartening to me how much this gets glossed over.

yeah i dunno the older i get the less i listen to rap and that's definitely one of the reasons :/

i have to admit that i do extend a bit more tolerance to the use of ugly words than i do to ugly actions. they're both worth calling out, but the difference between bronson's actions/attitudes and (for instance) the casual use of "no homo" seems pretty significant to me. if you really want to police a strict, zero-tolerance line wr2 stuff like this, "bitch" is as objectionable as "faggot", imo, and i'm just not prepared to expend outrage at every stray use of that word.

i dunno i'm not sure what "we" should "do" and i don't really want to call for boycotting records or whatever and yeah schoolboy q's "faggots" are def problematic though "no homo" has always been whatever to me but i kind of feel that the fact that it is 2012 now is important and we, and hip-hop, should be progressing on this front and not ignoring it like we all, including me, have always done

in this particular instance actual violence is a huge crossing-of-the-line that goes above & beyond really

i don't think there is a clear line, and it's often hard to say exactly where a "sort-of-okay (but not really)" type thing slips over into "completely unacceptable" territory. i'm okay with that imprecision, though.

yeah at some point I'm like who am I offending with this material besides myself - I don't listen to things to annoy my parents/teachers/jerks at school anymore
