Registered a while ago, still haven't gotten the update e-mail with details etc. Trying to plan when I should be busing down and so forth.

Does anyone know what time on Thursday the conference starts? Is it a "you should be there early Thursday morning" thing or does it not get properly started until the afternoon, etc.

(also, trying to rationalize/justify going by getting as much work done in the next 24 hours as possible)

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Wednesday, 21 March 2012 04:25 (fourteen years ago)

and when can I say hi to you EMP gays?

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 21 March 2012 04:28 (fourteen years ago)

I'm still waffling on ability to go. Couchsurfing with friends just got confirmed, so now it boils down to whether my summer job applications (due Friday) and other coursework that I promised myself would get done does get done.

Family obligations mean I can't make it up there. Thursday night opening looks like it could be interesting

7:00pm - 8:30pm

curmudgeon, Wednesday, 21 March 2012 14:32 (fourteen years ago)

i have been procrastinating so much on everything as far as planning what i'm actually doing this weekend, beyond that i am definitely taking the bus up Thursday night and doing a panel (w/ Matos!) on Friday afternoon and staying til Sunday. maybe i can wing it? i need to get my shit together.

some dude, Wednesday, 21 March 2012 14:36 (fourteen years ago)

wandering down to the bus station now. new york!

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 22 March 2012 09:52 (fourteen years ago)

this is an ungodly hour, iirc

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 22 March 2012 09:53 (fourteen years ago)

I can't make it, alas: a work meeting tomorrow afternoon that's probably the most important of the year.

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 March 2012 09:57 (fourteen years ago)

ah that's a bummer. i was looking forward to meeting you. maybe next time it'll be in miami

I'm heading down to NYU later today for the keynote address. who else will be attending?

demolition with discretion (m coleman), Thursday, 22 March 2012 10:40 (fourteen years ago)

Same here! At least a dozen people I looked forward to meeting for the first time.

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 March 2012 11:49 (fourteen years ago)

internet somebody (some dude), Thursday, 22 March 2012 13:42 (fourteen years ago)

I will be there. Perhaps not at 5 - bus arrives around 430 and I need/want to head out to Brooklyn where I'm crashing to drop my stuff at a friend's place but I should get there for the keynote.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 22 March 2012 19:12 (fourteen years ago)

scott seward, Friday, 23 March 2012 04:29 (fourteen years ago)

live streaming here?

curmudgeon, Friday, 23 March 2012 14:42 (fourteen years ago)

it occurs to me I'm not sure what curmudgeon's real name is. I imagine you walking around this weekend saying "I'm curmudgeon" and getting the response "me too!" over and over.

internet somebody (some dude), Friday, 23 March 2012 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

Ha. I am not there alas, family obligations. I'm in the DC area.

curmudgeon, Friday, 23 March 2012 14:54 (fourteen years ago)

oh bummer! we need to hang sometime, though, we're practically neighbors

internet somebody (some dude), Friday, 23 March 2012 14:57 (fourteen years ago)

So Scott Seward killed it again. A sample line of many:

"OK UK stop inventing things, all hopped up on Cadbury bars and PG Tips"

Exchange after he was done:

Jim Miller: "You grew up on Sesame Street didn't you?"
Scott: "Yeah!"

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 March 2012 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

hello people! i'm in town but i haven't been to any of the popcon stuff yet. no sleep on the plane last night means zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. anything fun happening tonight?

the kids of boris midney high (get bent), Friday, 23 March 2012 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

that was fun today. i'm glad my dad could make it. nice to meet jim miller today and tom smucker tonight. it's really nice that greil is my biggest fan, but him sitting right in front of me when i was talking was still kind of intimidating. i avoided eye contact.

scott seward, Friday, 23 March 2012 23:40 (fourteen years ago)

is that why you sat right in front of matos and me and tried to psyche us out?

internet somebody (some dude), Saturday, 24 March 2012 05:56 (fourteen years ago)

exactly! it didn't work though. you guys were fine.

scott seward, Saturday, 24 March 2012 13:02 (fourteen years ago)

Wish I could have heard that one and Some Dude's Baltimore club thang

curmudgeon, Saturday, 24 March 2012 13:04 (fourteen years ago)

that whole panel of yours was really good. all 4.

scott seward, Saturday, 24 March 2012 13:04 (fourteen years ago)

x-post

scott seward, Saturday, 24 March 2012 13:05 (fourteen years ago)

joshua clark davis's frankfurt rap thing was such a kick. scott you ran off but hopefully at some point this weekend i'll run into you and we can tape a quick interview, i need your pov for what i'm doing!

internet somebody (some dude), Saturday, 24 March 2012 13:08 (fourteen years ago)

would love to have watched greil's facial expressions during "you gotta have dick control"

demolition with discretion (m coleman), Saturday, 24 March 2012 14:59 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that whole panel killed btw

demolition with discretion (m coleman), Saturday, 24 March 2012 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

I wish I could be at more of this :(

mom in the woods (Ówen P.), Saturday, 24 March 2012 15:08 (fourteen years ago)

You around today? What are you doing for lunch?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 24 March 2012 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

From 1 to 2 there's a lunchtime Prince panel.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Saturday, 24 March 2012 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

Thing tonight needs extra prep time, I can't make it today and I'm *sad*, yesterday was a blast, but also *here for aero*. May drop by Von afterward b/c that's my "Cheers".

mom in the woods (Ówen P.), Saturday, 24 March 2012 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah you better. For one thing I haven't said hi yet!

i went to the mixtape panel and said hi to Breihan and enjoyed what he had to say because that's my dude but oh god so much else of what was said was just a smh greatest hits circa 2005
