despite the vocals, "journeys" is the track i find myself revisiting the most

teledyldonix, Monday, 19 March 2012 07:28 (fourteen years ago)

I love the stutters that Talabot puts into the rhythms of tracks like that, there's a real carefree swing to them.

Tim F, Monday, 19 March 2012 09:28 (fourteen years ago)

"matilda's dream" is incredible. made me cry.

It's a warm night in Brooklyn, and I have the windows wide open even though it's perhaps a little chilly for that kind of abandon. I've spent maybe five nights this entire month in NY, having been traveling a ton for work and spending five nights in Jamaica last week. I went a little crazy at Other Music today, and this record is now spinning on my turntable. Granted I'm a little drunk on a beautiful red Burgundy, but this is just AMAZINGLY lovely and delicious. It feels perfect for this exact moment, a sort of drunken wistfulness, the coolness of the air a little biting but the reality of open windows so sweet...

i have avoided hearing anything by that band because of their name for at least a year now. talabot why are you making me break this policy

lex pretend, Saturday, 31 March 2012 14:01 (fourteen years ago)

The band name alone is awful.

MikoMcha, Saturday, 31 March 2012 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs are pretty good though. There's an excellent Joe Goddard mix of one of their tunes out there as well.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 1 April 2012 11:07 (fourteen years ago)

yeah "tapes & money" is fantastic

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:18 (fourteen years ago)

not so hot on the talabot remix tho

J0rdan S., Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

that F3 "lonely land" remix is so incredible - the closing melody is just gorgeous. totally always play it b2b with his own "last land"

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Monday, 16 April 2012 09:27 (fourteen years ago)

Agreed, such beautiful rhythmic programming as well (which is also true of "Last Land" actually).

Tim F, Monday, 16 April 2012 09:44 (fourteen years ago)

Cycled into work today, sunglasses on, "Missing You" on my iPod... A moment of bliss before the day's onslaught

Scary Move 4 (dog latin), Thursday, 26 July 2012 08:14 (thirteen years ago)

Upcoming remixes from Pachanga Boys and Kenton Slash Demon (ie two members of When Saints Go Machine) that I am very excited to hear.

boxedjoy, Thursday, 26 July 2012 17:11 (thirteen years ago)

Hammering "Leave me (Friendly Pattern version)" at the moment. I'd like to know if there is a non Friendly Pattern version, because I can't find one and I want more

MikoMcha, Saturday, 15 September 2012 12:57 (thirteen years ago)

did any of you guys listen to the album more than say, five times? cos i didn't. i am starting to go off this sound too, the melodies are always nice but it's shit club music.

Michael B Higgins (Michael B), Saturday, 15 September 2012 17:26 (thirteen years ago)

I haven't listened to it in a little while but I listened to it way more than five times before I took a break from it

ditto. i feel another talabot phase coming on, actually

lex pretend, Saturday, 15 September 2012 18:00 (thirteen years ago)

seeing him DJ in a few weeks, very excited

J0rdan S., Saturday, 15 September 2012 18:01 (thirteen years ago)

feel like this album is very prime Autumn vibes

❏❐❑❒ (gr8080), Saturday, 15 September 2012 18:04 (thirteen years ago)

He's a good live DJ.

Tim F, Saturday, 15 September 2012 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

oncoming autumn vibes but while the light and heat of summer are still in the air, is what i'm thinking

lex pretend, Saturday, 15 September 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

also the remix is excellent obv, and i say this as someone who found the chairlift original super boring

lex pretend, Saturday, 15 September 2012 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

i was going to see john talabot until the xx album came out and was boring (they are touring together)

teledyldonix, Saturday, 15 September 2012 23:13 (thirteen years ago)

anyone know if there's an unofficial comp of his remixes/pre-fin stuff anywhere

J0rdan S., Saturday, 15 September 2012 23:19 (thirteen years ago)

shit club music

funny, the criticism i would've made is that it's a hair's breadth from not being club music at all, it's coffee-table house

hot slag (lukas), Sunday, 16 September 2012 00:48 (thirteen years ago)

i think that's why i like it

J0rdan S., Sunday, 16 September 2012 00:54 (thirteen years ago)

At this point criticising stuff as coffee-table house seems a bit pointless, all of us have coffee-table house skeletons in our closet.
