Didn't really know this guy until Swim, but have since been checking out the back catalog which I like even more.

Up In Flames is still one my favourite things ever

I gather Dan was recording Caribou material early his year. I love this dude.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Sunday, 8 April 2012 20:31 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not on this thread making Chapterhouse jokes? How? Or was that another thread?

Heard "Sun (sunsunsunsunsunsunsunsun)" in the pub the other night, which was a bit of a headphuck. Someone in my local boozer is determined to make sure I spend more time in there.

that daphni emeralds remix is still one of my favourite things this year. WCC you def need to hear that!

mod night at the oasis (NickB), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 08:19 (thirteen years ago)

Yes? What? Hello? Did someone call my name? I've only heard one Daphni track but this is relevant to my interests.

Also, Dan Snaith needs to stop raiding my cupboard because he is wearing my shirt in that photo.

I want to smother him in electronic butter. (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 08:26 (thirteen years ago)

Emeralds - Does It Look Like I'm Here? (Daphni Mix)

mod night at the oasis (NickB), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 09:07 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I found it. It's nice, but it's too... too clean? I don't know. I might come back to it when I'm in a different mood because it seems like the sort of thing I would like if I were feeling more pristine.

The tracks I've heard are suuuuper minimal, like, hilarious. I love it

fish frosch (seandalai), Monday, 1 October 2012 15:37 (thirteen years ago)

can't find the streaming link - do I need to "join" to be able to see it or am I just dumb?

lol, there is a REALLY shitty metal band on Spotify with the same name

has important things to say about gangnam style (Hurting 2), Monday, 1 October 2012 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

There should also be a link from the RA front page? I'm not signed in or anything.

fish frosch (seandalai), Monday, 1 October 2012 15:44 (thirteen years ago)

I think I might just be missing plugins on my work browser.

has important things to say about gangnam style (Hurting 2), Monday, 1 October 2012 15:46 (thirteen years ago)

really like jiaolong on first listen

heiswagger (rennavate), Monday, 1 October 2012 16:01 (thirteen years ago)

what I mean, fwiw, is that I get the page that says "RA Exclusive: Stream Daphni..." but there's nothing on the page to actually stream, that I can find. Is it some kind of player?

has important things to say about gangnam style (Hurting 2), Monday, 1 October 2012 16:05 (thirteen years ago)

Looks like a Flash plugin, I think.

fish frosch (seandalai), Monday, 1 October 2012 16:11 (thirteen years ago)

ah, flashpwned again

So it's basically a more griddy and less interesting Four Tet. That makes me sad. I wanted to like this more.

Sexy Data Scientist (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Monday, 1 October 2012 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah I'm enjoying this but I'm not in love with it by any means.

comedy is unnatural and abhorrent (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 1 October 2012 19:04 (thirteen years ago)

aw, i had my hopes up for this after loving yeye and the emeralds remixes

DJ Mooncup (NickB), Monday, 1 October 2012 19:05 (thirteen years ago)

I often find this with Manitoba, though. That if I hear just one track, I'm all "yeah, this is the best thing evah!" but it doesn't really hold my attention for a whole album's length. So I'd probably like them in other contexts, i.e. if they were in a DJ set or something.

Sexy Data Scientist (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Monday, 1 October 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

TMI: manitoba is good sex music

Really liked the Daphni record, reviewed it here, was clearly battered the night before judging by the sentence length lol:

Bows is the best sex music. But that's probably for another thread.

comedy is unnatural and abhorrent (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 09:58 (thirteen years ago)

What is this sex you speak of?

Sexy Data Scientist (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 17:00 (thirteen years ago)

It's like wanking but more socially awkward.

comedy is unnatural and abhorrent (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 2 October 2012 17:04 (thirteen years ago)

so outside of the singles "ye ye" and "yes i know" i find this daphni pretty disappointing...

nice. A new caribou track is exactly what my afternoon needed.

Fun!

hyggeligt, Tuesday, 3 June 2014 20:49 (twelve years ago)

good, I like it

₴HABΔZZ ¶IZZΔ (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 3 June 2014 21:08 (twelve years ago)

I love this track so much - it's been the tune of my summer so far. I really love the album, too; for me it combines the sound of the last album with the Daphni material perfectly.

toby, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 04:42 (twelve years ago)

but but it's not out til October

Number None, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 09:30 (twelve years ago)

god this track is so good

sktsh, Wednesday, 4 June 2014 21:41 (twelve years ago)

Listening now to the Daphni/OwenPallett stuff which is also v cool, wasn't aware of it before.

₴HABΔZZ ¶IZZΔ (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 4 June 2014 22:01 (twelve years ago)

The Daphni/Owen Pallett stuff is amazing in a club (still great at home, but people always go crazy for it when I've seen it played out).

toby, Thursday, 5 June 2014 04:14 (twelve years ago)

the new track gets better every time I listen to it. wish I could go listen to it somewhere loud on big speakers.

₴HABΔZZ ¶IZZΔ (Hurting 2), Thursday, 5 June 2014 04:35 (twelve years ago)

Now I'm listening to his "7.5 hr DJ Mix" which, 1.42 in has been good all the way through so far. The guy is a DJing savant.

₴HABΔZZ ¶IZZΔ (Hurting 2), Thursday, 5 June 2014 16:56 (twelve years ago)

Also on soundcloud?

hyggeligt, Thursday, 5 June 2014 21:44 (twelve years ago)

Number None, Thursday, 5 June 2014 21:49 (twelve years ago)

Thank you. Something to look forward to over the weekend.

Has anyone actually seen him DJ? I saw him on a boiler room webcast with Jamie XX I think. I liked it but hard to got measure of how into it crowd were.

hyggeligt, Thursday, 5 June 2014 21:51 (twelve years ago)

I saw him do an allnighter with four tet in brixton. Weird crowd but he was great. (Hebden too.)

sktsh, Thursday, 5 June 2014 23:53 (twelve years ago)

I really like the way the new track builds but never quite blows. I love tracks that do that. Is there a thread for songs that do that?

₴HABΔZZ ¶IZZΔ (Hurting 2), Friday, 6 June 2014 14:43 (twelve years ago)

i'm not so crazy about it... i mean it's ok. reminds me of the latest fourtet stuff that never really grabbed me much.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 6 June 2014 15:57 (twelve years ago)

Second and third listen, with some volume, convinced me this was brilliant.
