The bass crunches instead of hitting, clips out, sounds like a lo-fi recording (Sunday School is a good example). The 160 bit rate doesn't help.

i mean fair enough, they are kids. but the difference is that diggy cuts a check to jeremih for hooks while rich kidz write a bunch of em on their own, all of which are better than whatever ppl are getting from jeremih

i think that rich kidz tape has a couple of really great joints at the beginning but then it tails off, re-working lines from the great tracks into mediocre hooks: 'all i know is real it's in my d.n.a', 'my whole team ball...no nba'... groan

I wonder if its just general ignorance on the matter or a conscious decision, probably the latter more often than not. Like Clams Casinos whole thing about not knowing or caring about bit rates or w/e. I feel like plenty of producers can make good beats, but not nearly as many have the knowledge/skill/money(?) to craft them so they sound pristine as well.

i think there's a very fine line between having obvious talent as a writer and being a compelling, singular rap artist -- plenty of rappers from new york have grappled with this and failed
