drop these whiners on a island (Surviver style) (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 6 March 2012 19:12 (fourteen years ago)

that;s because you changed the other 14 to say you're a genius

what's a goon to garbus (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 6 March 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

I was just thinking that number sounded way low

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 6 March 2012 19:32 (fourteen years ago)

i have one that i remember. you know, specifically calling me an idiot or whatever.

scott seward, Tuesday, 6 March 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

but nate was pretty good at pointing out my dumbassness in the early years.

whiney would it be fair to say that youd appreciate for this thread to be for constructive criticism and for people to use the other threads for all out attacks

buzza, Friday, 9 March 2012 09:53 (fourteen years ago)

oh my god, boner toast flip 4ever

sarahell, Friday, 9 March 2012 09:54 (fourteen years ago)

late to party but I picked this up on Satdy. Between heft & article length, instant nostalgia! Feels, and looks, like a capital M Magazine.

And not to sound like a kissass but I didn't give much of a hoot for Sleigh Bells til I read the interview in this issue - might circle back & give them a re-listen. It was a good piece imo

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 12 March 2012 07:11 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

To whom it may concern: Look, I get the whole page view/ad revenue thing and all but splitting a list of 30 things over 15 pages is just ridiculous and v few people are going to actually read the whole thing.

Joan Cusack clumsily running into a water fountain (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 13:52 (fourteen years ago)

putting 400-500 words on each page is fair game in this day and age imo. you should see VladTV lists where you have to scroll through 100 pages to see 100 list entries with no actual writing accompanying the list

the outlaw josie mccoy (some dude), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 13:57 (fourteen years ago)

you should see Pitchfork lists where you only have to scroll through 10 pages to see 100 list entires

Joan Cusack clumsily running into a water fountain (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 14:01 (fourteen years ago)

obv Spin is not all the way on the most generous end of the content-per-page spectrum, I'm just saying they're not that far over to the stingy end either

the outlaw josie mccoy (some dude), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 14:04 (fourteen years ago)

spin site has ALWAYS been really hard to look at and buggy. it's tradition! (i just clicked that link and was stuck on the page with no way out. had to click the whole page away.)

scott seward, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 14:08 (fourteen years ago)

tweeted links to spin articles will sometimes take me to the mobile homepage (when on iPhone).. FYI

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 14:25 (fourteen years ago)

i was just looking at the spin twitter feed this morning while i was getting ready for work and thinking that it really isn't much better than like the metacritic upcoming releases list. i mean, it's nice to know what's out there in genres i'm maybe not keeping close tabs on.

Mordy, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

stevie otm and theres a lot of evidence that this kind of page view grubbing is getting less and less effective

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 15:34 (fourteen years ago)

I must admit, I never click through any sites like that. I find it annoying. I know why they do it, but its still a pain.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

yeah its the worst. its rarely worth it.

scott seward, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 15:42 (fourteen years ago)

i hate other message boards that have like 10 or 15 posts on a page then you need to click to get on another page. ILX has really spoiled me with regards to all this I think.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 15:45 (fourteen years ago)

yeah and all these buttons and random txt and avatars, so hard to read

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

theres always like 10 ways to reply to a thread

It was our highest trafficked article of the entire month of march so \o_O/

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:03 (fourteen years ago)

sure but you have you have nothing to compare that to, it couldve just been a good article that more people wouldve read if it had been formatted differently, you should do some a/b testing w/yr pagination - and that doesnt even get into what youre doing to your brand w/this junky stuff - basically the word on the street is in the age of social news these type of things are less likely to be shared than their more humanely formatted counterparts

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

Your search - "clickthrough whites" - did not match any documents.

buzza, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

loll

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:10 (fourteen years ago)

like if you took the same attitude to revamping yr site as you did to the magazine you wouldnt f w/these chopped up listicles

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

if i can't Read It Later i ain't innerested

Lil T the Bowed Jet (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

honestly, one "Full Page View" button for every article would go a long way toward a standing ovation from the entire internet. Leave the choppy chop shit as the default if you need to but present an option for the cognoscenti to take advantage of. Everyone's happy.

Lil T the Bowed Jet (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:16 (fourteen years ago)

ya even business insider has that option

lag∞n, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:18 (fourteen years ago)

i will read almost anything if its easy to see and read. cuz i LOVE wasting time.

scott seward, Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:22 (fourteen years ago)

Where article = the first page? How many people made it to the end?

Joan Cusack clumsily running into a water fountain (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 28 March 2012 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

Or does viewing each page count as 1 article view? I mean come on dude, surely you can agree this kind of formatting is not ideal w/o pulling out numbers and stuff.

Doran, some real talk from across the pond. I'm very psyched on this feature

But I'm not psyched to click through 14 things to read it.
