love how the guy who spends 80 percent of his time on the internet slinging his "lol corny indie fuxx" act at pretty much every rock band is like "sure i can take a couple minor critiques of spin as long as you say some positive things as well"

i dunno, because its one thing for people to call me out on Twitter and Tumblr when its part of "the conversation" and a completely different thing for people who are active members of a small message board community to snipe at each other with nitpicky minutae of their IRL lives?

I think there is a distinct difference to this thread and Whiney's general presence on the interent: the "corny indie fuxx" stance is how Whiney feels and is an opinion he flings about, which you are fully free to find annoying/hateful/whatever. This thread in particular relates to Whiney's job, and thus he is hoping that maybe folks actually talk about Spin, and what they do and don't like about the changes, as opposed to attacking him (and vicariously the magazine) for the other things he gets up to. Lots of other threads to attack Whiney on, maybe this isn't the place?

late to party but I picked this up on Satdy. Between heft & article length, instant nostalgia! Feels, and looks, like a capital M Magazine.

And not to sound like a kissass but I didn't give much of a hoot for Sleigh Bells til I read the interview in this issue - might circle back & give them a re-listen. It was a good piece imo

To whom it may concern: Look, I get the whole page view/ad revenue thing and all but splitting a list of 30 things over 15 pages is just ridiculous and v few people are going to actually read the whole thing.

putting 400-500 words on each page is fair game in this day and age imo. you should see VladTV lists where you have to scroll through 100 pages to see 100 list entries with no actual writing accompanying the list

you should see Pitchfork lists where you only have to scroll through 10 pages to see 100 list entires

obv Spin is not all the way on the most generous end of the content-per-page spectrum, I'm just saying they're not that far over to the stingy end either

spin site has ALWAYS been really hard to look at and buggy. it's tradition! (i just clicked that link and was stuck on the page with no way out. had to click the whole page away.)

tweeted links to spin articles will sometimes take me to the mobile homepage (when on iPhone).. FYI

i was just looking at the spin twitter feed this morning while i was getting ready for work and thinking that it really isn't much better than like the metacritic upcoming releases list. i mean, it's nice to know what's out there in genres i'm maybe not keeping close tabs on.

I must admit, I never click through any sites like that. I find it annoying. I know why they do it, but its still a pain.

yeah its the worst. its rarely worth it.

i hate other message boards that have like 10 or 15 posts on a page then you need to click to get on another page. ILX has really spoiled me with regards to all this I think.

yeah and all these buttons and random txt and avatars, so hard to read
