diplo's whole inept musical anthropology thing skeezes me out, especially in this context. in a nutshell, the post-katrina carpetbagging hipster types have seized on "sissy bounce" as a thing to get really into and be really excited about, which is cool, except that regular bounce music, which is way way way more popular, is generally ignored by the (almost entirely white) hipster bounce brigade. the way it seems to me is that these people (who are certainly the people that hipped diplo to the whole thing) can only engage with this culture when it is to a large extent (and this is a generalization but it would take forever to fully go into it) emasculated.
