northface is just a huge brand worn by lots of people tho it was def particularly huge w/east coast 'heads' in the late 90s

black bubble jackets were huge then, now like every 'professional male' has a nface fleece

i don't think drake has mastered being male at a professional level yet though

north face has been a thing for like, ever....goole i think you might have a weird impression because of MN being cold and all so lots more types of ppl wear north face here?

one thing i noticed when i went to finally moved to a place where people where winter clothes is that north face was VERY popular with white people

one thing thats kind annoying abt the internet is most of the content is fromt he last ten years so its harder to find pictures of 90s rappers wearing northface than you might expect

columbia is still p popular here in the burbs

columbia has never had the cache with hiphop types that north face has ime

yeah i mean from a chicago perspective specifically (which prob extends thru much of the midwest as well) this was the look of the rich white kids at my h.s. in the late 90s & at lots of suburban schools as well, but only recently became a street thing -- i think there's an aspirational wealth thing to it, or maybe its coming out of that moment where hipster & urban fashion were basically completely linked

but at least in chi the street rap (as opposed to hip-hop heads or w/e) look of high school kids is timberlands, true religion jeans, and a variety of tops: north face fleeces, american apparel hoodies, aeropostale & abercrombie shirts

there's a variety there but these looks are just as common in the burbs as in the city. there's a lot less distance in fashion than there used to be i guess
