the weirdest thing to me is that GQ is usually pretty on the curve in terms of covering music as far as men's magazines go. if you had told me "the march 2012 issue of 'esquire' has a kreayshawn feature" i'd have been like "ha, well yeah, that definitely makes sense" but it was pretty puzzling to see it in GQ

and they pimp a lot of their big features now online before the mag hits stores... it's almost as if they were embarrassed about having to run that story or something

those were top 10 hits (top 20 in Tiny Tim's case) supported by major album releases, and probably didn't get that much critical attention from the print media.

have to draw rough equivalencies here, since top 10 hits/print media/major album releases don't mean the same thing then as they did now. I'd say Kreay is roughly equivalent to their level of fame is all - I'd wager roughly similar numbers of people are familiar with her, and for similar reasons (goofy persona + catchy tune)

Tiny Tim's wikipedia entry, which cites an interview he gave in 1974, which has (of course) been lol removed for a copyright claim. I suspect those are Nielsen numbers tho.

There is a fairly diverse demographic in my office of about 120 or so and I can guarantee that none of these people know who Kreay is. all of them know the words to the thong song tho

impossible to answer but i dont know why you're so confident that sisqo was more known

are you crazy? sisqo was, between his group and solo records, the lead voice on like half a dozen huge pop hits and several platinum albums. there's no comparison.

more fans =/= more known. im just saying, she's famous
