it continues to amaze me that her only single dropped NINE MONTHS AGO and hasn't charted in six months, and she still keeps getting more press coverage in bigger outlets. has anyone ever milked one minor hit more? if she doesn't release anything in 2012 she could be on the cover of Time by the end of the year.

those were top 10 hits (top 20 in Tiny Tim's case) supported by major album releases, and probably didn't get that much critical attention from the print media. i'm talking about a song people keep dedicating tons of column inches to the year after it spent a couple weeks in the lower half of the Hot 100. xpost

the weirdest thing to me is that GQ is usually pretty on the curve in terms of covering music as far as men's magazines go. if you had told me "the march 2012 issue of 'esquire' has a kreayshawn feature" i'd have been like "ha, well yeah, that definitely makes sense" but it was pretty puzzling to see it in GQ

and they pimp a lot of their big features now online before the mag hits stores... it's almost as if they were embarrassed about having to run that story or something

have to draw rough equivalencies here, since top 10 hits/print media/major album releases don't mean the same thing then as they did now. I'd say Kreay is roughly equivalent to their level of fame is all - I'd wager roughly similar numbers of people are familiar with her, and for similar reasons (goofy persona + catchy tune)
