i guess on the one hand it's easy to understand why she's doing what she's doing... her fanbase has grown and it's not like she's been ostracized from the hip-hop world or something. i guess everyone would like a new "super bass" seing as that's the song that really blasted her into superstardom, but if she's having her cake and eating it too there's no real reason for her to change what she's doing

but the music is largely complete shit, yes

should i start the WE ARE THE 1% tumblr for gays, women and non-whites that don't fuck with nicki's katy perry songs

I have no problem conceptually with Nicki Minaj doing a Katy Perry pastiche; I have a problem with the actual pastiche sounding like dogshit.

^^ this, although more broadly i do have a problem with Nicki singing because she sounds awful

eh, she usually sounds okay if the guide vocal isn't loud enough to clash with her live vocals; she's never off enough to be entirely out of key, unlike say Rihanna (who apparently can only sing "We Found Love" in key live)

it's okay to think someone's singing is awful without it being about anything strictly technical

I didn't say it wasn't, I just disagreed and said why.

the things she does on the choruses of "Moment 4 Life" and "Right Thru Me" and "Turn Me On" are just blood-curdling to me. love the bridge of "Super Bass" though.

i honestly have no idea why "stupid hoe" is hated in so many quarters, it's ridiculously fun and slays on the dancefloor
