obviously i think there are several "100 dollar autograph" level joints on there but i won't argue with someone who says that no song is outright better than that -- def don't think there's some noticeable drop off tho

"feel this flow" is my shit now

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 21:53 (fourteen years ago)

nah i meant i was kind of waiting for a hook that had the same visceral impact as "100 dollar autograph" and none came

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 16 February 2012 00:32 (fourteen years ago)

well i outright disagree w that

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 01:52 (fourteen years ago)

obv this is too long, but the beat is great

This Mykki Blanco joint is kind of crazy:

between the rich kidz & young thug tapes as well as the future tape from this year, it sorta feels like a real peak for fruity swag rap right now

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:46 (fourteen years ago)

the young thug tape is for real crazy... it's much more goonish than the other two tapes and yet of all them he's the one who chooses to sound more or less like a child when he raps and sings. idk, kinda interesting to me.

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:47 (fourteen years ago)

'Slumdon Bridge EP' yikes, a title very much in keeping with the high bar set by 'Slumerican Shitizen'. Was expecting this to be horrible, well more horrible than it actually is. Not sure I'll listen to it more than once mind you.

pandemic, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:10 (fourteen years ago)

That hyperbolic chamber music is really cool.

dr dre throwing dubstep balloons (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:15 (fourteen years ago)

the young thug is one of my fav things so far this yr

D-40, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

def

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

Young Thug makes music as weird & catchy as rich kidz and future, but he has that little something that makes him even more compelling and exciting imo. Not sure what it is yet, maybe his 'west-indies' style (where i think the child voice comes from).

sisilafami, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think rich kidz or future make music that's all that weird

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

myself being a dick i have to tell you that young thug's tape dropped in december.

sisilafami, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:57 (fourteen years ago)

december stuff can always count for the next year imo

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:57 (fourteen years ago)

well imo future has very weirdish moments.

sisilafami, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

hmmm "deeper than the ocean" is kind of weird... i see him more of a ruthless pop writer pushing junk food to the masses

idk i think i'm being a bit rockist here actually, but even in the swag rap matrix future isn't as weird as, like, fabo or yung la or even juiceman

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

which is fine! it's the reason he has a career, i just never thought of him that way

D-40, Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

i think what you're talking abt w/ young thug is simply charisma, hes nowhere near as boring of a person as Futuer

D-40, Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

ok but what's your defenition of charisma ?

sisilafami, Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:27 (fourteen years ago)

definition*

sisilafami, Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:28 (fourteen years ago)

if you were 16, would you say swag instead ?

sisilafami, Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:29 (fourteen years ago)

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 16 February 2012 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

im not 16 & id still call it swag lol

id say his music also has more dimension than Future's, where Future strikes me as purely a craftsman Young Thug seems contrary to his name to have more presence & implied personality

D-40, Friday, 17 February 2012 00:03 (fourteen years ago)

young thug is better than future by a pretty good margin

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 February 2012 01:56 (fourteen years ago)

well, future has more good songs right now, but i think YT has more potential

D-40, Friday, 17 February 2012 11:41 (fourteen years ago)

anyone got a link to the young thug? his name is not exactly made for SEO.

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 February 2012 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

i think the fact that the first big goon discovery of 2012 is a rapper named "young thug" retroactively validates the thread name choice

flopson, Friday, 17 February 2012 20:53 (fourteen years ago)

Lil Regional's new tape is dope too

some dude, Friday, 17 February 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

hey guys

for some reason i have almost no desire to listen to rap these days

did like the schoolboy Q album (but weirdly not kendrick as much even though he's supposed to be better)...dipped in and out this thread every once in awhile but do y'all have any stuff you think i'd dig?

dave coolier (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 17 February 2012 21:30 (fourteen years ago)

Danny Brown maybe?

Number None, Friday, 17 February 2012 21:37 (fourteen years ago)

the production on the young thug album is so crazy

trying to keep up with all the patterns on the "above dem niggas" beat is headspinning

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 February 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

imo chief keef '3hunna' is song of the year so far, its not m@tt-type rap but its hard for me to imagine anyone not liking it

D-40, Friday, 17 February 2012 23:31 (fourteen years ago)

I like danny brown but he kinda wears me out sometimes

Will check keef and young thug but don't think I'll like young thug

dave coolier (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 17 February 2012 23:59 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i dont think young thug is your thing, you might dig keef tho

D-40, Saturday, 18 February 2012 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

curious what u think of this actually, ive sent it to a few ppl & they're all like "yeah its cool i suppose" & i think im the only one who feels enthusiastic about it lol
