So, he's crazy in the sense that about 30% of the American electorate is crazy. Don't think that will find its way into the DSM V.

Pauper Management Improved (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 18:47 (fourteen years ago)

I'm also not sure I would call that a glowing recommendation… Seems more like "I'm Republican but I don't like any of these other jokers so I guess this guy?"

Surprised he isn't endorsing Gingrich:

By 1998, while the band was still touring in support of Cryptic Writings, Menza was having knee problems and sought medical advice. He was informed he had a tumor, which was later found to be benign, and had it removed. As a result, Megadeth hired a temporary replacement by Jimmy DeGrasso rather than cancel any dates. When the time came to record a follow-up album, Menza was not asked back and DeGrasso became the band's official drummer. Menza has said in several interviews that, while in the hospital recovering from knee surgery, he received a phone call from Mustaine that simply said "Your services are not needed anymore".

No, everybody who's worked with him says he's nuts & if you listen to him talk his free-associating sounds like a whole lotta DSM-endorsed pathology. I'm nobody's doctor but I'd bet a pretty good chunk money on how well he'd respond to Lithobid. So if somebody wants to trap Dave Mustaine and get him into my lab I'd appreciate that

Mustaine may have lousy politics, but he still puts on a phenomenal show. He's only one vote, not too worried about this. Just like Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent dont bother me. I dont listen to these guys for their political beliefs.

You're a notch, I'm a legend (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 20:01 (fourteen years ago)

Alice Cooper's political views seriously bum me out because he is my favorite of these three.

And Alice hasn't brought his politics into his songs/stage performances really at all, much less to the extent that Mustaine and Nugent have.

I'd actually say that, on average, Megadeth has a more consistent discography than Alice or Ted, even if you don't think the highs are as high.

Gamera died for our sins (J3ff T.), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 23:31 (fourteen years ago)

depends, i consider the Alice Cooper Band different from Alice the solo artist, the Alice Cooper Band was flawless IMO

MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE has issued the following statement to clarify reports that he has endorsed Rick Santorum for president:

“Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed any presidential candidate. What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House. I’ve seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have made my choice yet. I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter, but I never used the word ‘endorse.’”

I think it's generally a good rule of thumb to take political recommendations from musicians the same way you would take musical recommendations from politicians.

Megadeth at their peak were one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen

unlistenable in philly (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Thursday, 16 February 2012 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

I saw them a few days ago, and the current line-up is pretty solid. Annoying that every song was separated by long gaps as they all swapped guitars.

Motorhead was pretty solid as usual, too.

Megadeth at their peak were one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen

^agreed, plus they still utterly kill live. it's a different band obviously (not sure if by peak you mean the first band or the Rust in Peace band)but goddam are they unreal live. Only band ive ever seen hold their own with Slayer.

You're a notch, I'm a legend (Bill Magill), Thursday, 16 February 2012 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

Of all the Republicans, i would think Santorum would be the most appalled by a guy like Mustaine. Gingrich probably the most pleased by an endorsement because I think he's just as insane as Mustaine is.

You're a notch, I'm a legend (Bill Magill), Thursday, 16 February 2012 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

In 1988, Mustaine caused a riot when Megadeth played a concert in Northern Ireland after he "unwittingly" expressed support for the Irish Republican Army

getting good with gulags (beachville), Thursday, 16 February 2012 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

You mean, his endorsement of the IRA? Yeah, not like he's from Boston or anything.

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

AVC: “Holy Wars” came about after you inadvertently sparked controversy at a show in Antrim, Ireland, when you introduced “Anarchy In The U.K.” with what was perceived as an IRA rally cry, and wound up having to ride in a bulletproof bus afterward.

DM: You know what? I would love to say it was disorienting, but I was disoriented for a totally different reason. I had been having some problems with my personal life, and the band was struggling really bad. It just looked like we were gonna go through another breakup. I had gone outside to say hello to the fans, and I walked up to this fence, and there was this little kid there, and he goes, “Fuck you, Dave Mustaine,” and he spit on me. So I went inside of the venue and got cleaned up and was really mad, and I started drinking, which was pretty normal back then. I had a Guinness, and this guy there said, “If you have a Guinness and you draw a smiley face in the foam, you’ll have a drinking partner.” So I did that, and that was fun. And right as that happened, someone said, “Hey, find The General. There’s a guy in the venue selling T-shirts.” The General’s my nickname. So I said, “What? Somebody’s in the venue selling bootleg T-shirts? That’s pretty ballsy.” So they said he was for “the cause,” and “the cause” was an organization that was trying help balance out prejudice between the Catholics and the Protestants. And I went, “Oh shit, that’s cool. Let him sell it in there.”

Meanwhile, I’m still drinking this Guinness, and I’m starting to make friends with my foam, and I get ready to go onstage, and the kids are fired up. Somebody throws an English coin up on the stage, which is like three quarters taped together, so it’s solid and it hurts like a son of a gun if you get hit with it. So I get hit with it, and I look down at the kid who hit me with it, and he’s flipping me off, and I finally said, “You wanna do something, buddy? Come up onstage.” I took my guitar up, and I was getting ready to crack him with it. It was just one of those nights. He didn’t make it up there, so I went behind the amp line, because they had to restore order, and the tech for the guitars and the tech for the drums were back there doing drugs, partying with stuff lined up on a mirror. And I was like, “What are you guys doing back here?!” And I went back out to the microphone, and I was so blown away, because it was like walking onto the set of Caligula, and I said, “This one’s for the cause, give Ireland back to the Irish, anarchy in Antrim.” I had no idea what I’d said, because there was prejudice, and I was thinking, “C’mon man, God doesn’t want you to be fighting with each other.” So immediately, the audience parted ways. I flipped, and the next morning I woke up down in Dublin, and of course I don’t remember what happened after saying that. And David Ellefson won’t talk to me. When we were druggin’ and runnin’ and gunnin’, every morning we would party together, but this day, he didn’t want to talk to me. And I was like, “What’s wrong?” “Don’t you know what you did last night?!” And I was like, “No.” “You got us escorted out of Antrim in a bulletproof bus! The whole city could have killed us!” And I was like, “I’m so sorry, I don’t remember saying that.”

Breaking news........it was a premature endorsification

The part that gets me is how from 2000-2008, you couldn't even criticize the president anymore, and all these Republicans were talking about how WE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT NO MATTER WHAT and YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE THE GOVERNMENT EVER... and now, suddenly, the most patriotic shit you can do right now is to criticize the government. What a bunch of tools.

I've bought... 4? suits from them, and only one of them has been tailored correctly; one was tailored so baggily on me that when I tried it on I looked like a 10-year-old trying to wear his dad's clothes.

In fact, the suits I have that currently fit me best are pre-tailored Calvin Klein suits I bought from Macy's and the CK outlet

In summation, Men's Wearhouse can fuck off along with Dave Mustaine
