Also Whiney, do you find all live albums to be comedic? Is cheering for non-electronic sounds less ridiculous?

i got the 1-disc version tonight. is this qualitatively much different from a creatively-mixed "greatest hits" comp? maybe crowd noise doesn't really do it much for me ... or the crowd is just mixed much lower than in "alive 97"?

they do an ill job on "steam machine" though. that keyboard line! sounds like fred falke's been giving lessons ...

apparently there is a 1-disc version out there with the encore? is it worth it spending the $$$ for 10 minutes + a video, though?

also apparently there's a japanese version that includes the bearbricks ...

Haha, I pulled this up on our TV to show my wife, since we were at the show together, and my 9 year-old was entranced the whole time. “These guys are SO much better than Marshmello” which is, in his world, very high praise indeed.

Weird, it's been almost 7 years since the last album, who knows how long since the last tour, they only appear anonymously. We've been conditioned not to even expect more music/performances from them. Why even formally announce a break up?

Why even formally announce a break up?

especially as seeing this bumped and their trending on Twitter just gave me at least three seconds of "NEW ALBUM?" / "THEY"RE DEAD?!" panic

I mean, I'm guessing they formally announced it so people would quit asking them? I don't know why this is so weird to some folks, I'm guessing they were taking their usual slow pace and didn't know what their future was to be, but have since figured it was a good time to call it. I'd rather have an official announcement than just leave it in limbo.

Plus, now they can reunite.

at least they're not pulling a Blue Man Group thing (renting actors/having several versions of the band on tour simultaneously)

tbf there are at least a dozen Daft Punk tribute bands that apparently just show up on stage in costume and play the Alive 2007 CD while pretending to DJ
