Yeah, i'm not sure it's better than Setbacks. "Blessed" is just fucking amazing though and it's all in his delivery. Like he's not doing anything incredibly complex lyrically but the way he tears into the lines where the beat come in is beautiful. Kendrick comes of as bit too cerebral in comparison.

Loving this Rich Kidz tape.

Is the Ca$h Out thing you're talking about just the song, j0rdan, or does he have a full tape (and if so what's it called)?

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

And the Young Thug tape is "I Came From Nothing 2"? Or is there a more recent one?

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

thats the recent one

D-40, Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:07 (fourteen years ago)

cash out is a duo. jordan was just talking about the video i believe. you should grab 'i came from nothing 2' though. its a big step forward from the first one imo

D-40, Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:07 (fourteen years ago)

Cool. Thanks for putting up with drop-in dilettantes, goons.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:10 (fourteen years ago)

at first i thought setbacks had the better songs, but now i can say that i easily prefer H&C.

sisilafami, Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:26 (fourteen years ago)

im sure I'll hear this in 2022 given how I'm always ten years behind on all rap

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:27 (fourteen years ago)

these times when i listen to the young thug's curtains, i listen to the cash out song & then this one

sisilafami, Thursday, 9 February 2012 23:28 (fourteen years ago)

it's legit better or as good as any full length travis porter mixtape, which i bring up bcuz it's basically a travis porter mixtape, except if almost every song had a hook like "hundred dollar autograph"

i'm very geeked up right now

And somehow I missed out on '100 Dollar Autograph' last year/December 2010/whenever and DEAR GOD WHAT A FUCKING AWESOME SONG.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Friday, 10 February 2012 05:58 (fourteen years ago)

looking forward to listening to that

flopson, Friday, 10 February 2012 06:03 (fourteen years ago)

something has been bothering me abt fruity swag music for a while and i think i might have finally put my finger on it...it's the melody & chord progressions of songs like this:

http://youtu.be/cgF3EPmkWPE

sound so close to the style of hot water music or another hardcore (post-hardcore blah blah whatever) band. keep imagining chuck ragan singing along to these fruity classics. I KNOW I KNOW I KNOWWWWWWWWWWW

Anyone else looking forward to this?

saturdaynight (jk), Monday, 13 February 2012 21:43 (fourteen years ago)

hooks in everybody eat bread are so relentlessly epic

flopson, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 01:23 (fourteen years ago)

i'm gonna say that other than ross no artist this year has yet delivered a 1-2-3 punch as solid as keef's "3 hunna" - "i dont know dem" - "winning" f. king louie

yet to see what else hes got but

also call it regional bias if you wish but there is a reallll high ratio of hits to misses on this comp. delete all the R&B tho

on first listen this new shady blaze recordis dope

http://shadyblaze.bandcamp.com/album/the-grind-hustle-talent

the beats are pretty varied & shady always sounds comfortable.

sisilafami, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 16:40 (fourteen years ago)

lex is otm

D-40, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 19:13 (fourteen years ago)

Really into that Shady Blaze mixtape its the best since MAN by MondreMAN I reckon, wasn't feeling Back Selling Crack or the Diamonds Of God EP really.

jimitheexploder, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

nothing is quite as amazing as 100 dollar autograph but that's a pretty high bar, imo.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 21:06 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i mean the rich kidz tape is good but i have to admit i was looking for a 100 autograph type joint

D-40, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 21:39 (fourteen years ago)

obviously i think there are several "100 dollar autograph" level joints on there but i won't argue with someone who says that no song is outright better than that -- def don't think there's some noticeable drop off tho

"feel this flow" is my shit now

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 21:53 (fourteen years ago)

nah i meant i was kind of waiting for a hook that had the same visceral impact as "100 dollar autograph" and none came

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 16 February 2012 00:32 (fourteen years ago)

well i outright disagree w that

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 01:52 (fourteen years ago)

obv this is too long, but the beat is great

This Mykki Blanco joint is kind of crazy:

"I know its hard to hear but I'm a Realest." (rennavate), Thursday, 16 February 2012 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

between the rich kidz & young thug tapes as well as the future tape from this year, it sorta feels like a real peak for fruity swag rap right now

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:46 (fourteen years ago)

the young thug tape is for real crazy... it's much more goonish than the other two tapes and yet of all them he's the one who chooses to sound more or less like a child when he raps and sings. idk, kinda interesting to me.

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:47 (fourteen years ago)

'Slumdon Bridge EP' yikes, a title very much in keeping with the high bar set by 'Slumerican Shitizen'. Was expecting this to be horrible, well more horrible than it actually is. Not sure I'll listen to it more than once mind you.

pandemic, Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:10 (fourteen years ago)

That hyperbolic chamber music is really cool.

dr dre throwing dubstep balloons (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 16 February 2012 22:15 (fourteen years ago)
