new Caveman album on fat possum is not special or unique in any way yet i'm really really enjoying it

I'm underwhelmed by the Liechtenstein album. They don't make knock you over the head music but the first album had a bit of an edge that's missing this time around.

Veronica Falls are gonna be in DC Wednesday night. Can't decide whether I like their retro UK postpunk sound or not.

I really enjoyed it albeit in a sub XTC manner. There are some fantastic songs on there.

I was briefly obsessed with Django Django's "Love's Dart" / "Storm" 7" but so far the album seems pleasant but not too exciting. All the tracks have sounded good popping up on random play, though.

The two Liechtenstein tracks on the split tape with Twinkle Twinkles are great, would've boosted the album a little.

Seeing Still Corners and My Sad Captains on Friday, two bands I've not seen for at least 3 years maybe, but really enjoyed last time out. Am intrigued to see how they've grown. Only heard the odd Still Corners thing despite them getting tangiably more of a big deal recently.

getting this a bit with the 2nd standard fare album too, though that is growing on me quite fast

Django Django seemed pretty Beta Band-esque to me, but not really in a way that felt like it was filling a gap in my life that's been empty since 2004 or whenever.

Feel like what I've read about Standard Fare is something I'd like, but have not heard them yet. Is early Delgados anywhere near what they sound like? I could do with some of that.

How well known are they now? I don't really keep up with the indie press so it's difficult for me to gauge how much attention they're getting.

Hm, the first video I found on Youtube (Fifteen (15)) sounded like how I think the Long Blondes sounded, maybe it's just a similar lyrical sentiment or something. Norman Records' review of the 2nd SF album almost had me throwing money at it but I was distracted by something else. I could probably grow to like it, I guess.

There's an indie press? SF seem like a band I could've seen maybe 20million times at various nights put on by friends of friends in the past couple of years but often I can't be bothered showing up. I don't know if there's an actual POPBAH-next level to step up to anymore, but the fact that I'm actively checking them out suggests they might be getting there.

I've known the singer for years. It's still a little bit strange for me to see people talking about them on ILM. Their reviews have tended to be positive, as far as i can tell, but i've never been sure how much attention they're picking up in the wider world.

some nice things out on hozac today. bare mutants 45 sounds like crystal stilts. the radar eyes LP is v nice too

camera obscura were the new belle and sebastian for a bit, allo darlin' seem more the new heavenly. they've supplanted a dormant pipas as the great white hope. i rather like them but i don't see them signing with 4ad until the 4th album. i think their new one is out soon right?
i agree with jim on still corners, it is exceedingly pretty but insubstantial. they might be better with a singer instead of a coo'er.

listening to the single 'capricornia', her personality moved back in the mix, maybe this will be more of a band record? has a bit of the lucksmiths nostalgic geography thing going while sounding more 80s jangly than they have before. sadly they are not playing near here on their US tour.

I quite like that Allo Darlin' track, was a little different than expected.

The new Standard Fare album took a while but proved itself a grower. First three tracks awesome from the go though. They are so great live.

Although it is difficult to stop oneself from substituting 'Danzig' for 'Dancing'.

Quite liking this new Wedding Present track. More than the "You Jane" single anyway.

Been listening to Chairlift's newest a ton the past two weeks. Not every song is a keeper, but more than half are fantastic.
