Suede - the fabric, not the band (DL), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:56 (fourteen years ago)

ah. thank you mr. spreadsheet

⚓ (gr8080), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:56 (fourteen years ago)

Only 5 people even voted for KC&JH, very odd indeed.

Thanks jordan and JF for this - such a great rundown. I still maintain it's been one of the best years for music in personal living memory, and so much good stuff out there of course it can't all place. Loads of curveballs and oddities placing instead of obvious choices (Goblin is right down the bottom there).

Sounds Of The Baskervilles (dog latin), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:56 (fourteen years ago)

Eleanoora Rosenholm #1 for enthusiasm :D

pandemic, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

xps I voted for ER too, Kerr.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

A big thank you to all involved and those that did all all the number crunching. I really fucking loved all of this \\0//

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

Someone start the stats thread stat

Phibes Kartel (NickB), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

Destroyer = Man Utd is a really crap analogy

Number None, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

This Destroyer album... it sounds like someone doing a pastiche of OMD or Electronic or something, which is exactly what it is. ILM, seriously I thought we were over this kind of thing. Must've been the US vote on this one, I'm assuming?

Sounds Of The Baskervilles (dog latin), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

Yes, thanks a lot guys!

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

Damn! I had forgotten about the Eleanoora Rosenholm album. I'd have voted for that.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

aw man i'm the only one who voted for trail of dead

ciderpress, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

tbh I only remembered ToD released a new album when I saw it on the nominations list. Would have considered voting it worst album art of the year, though.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:59 (fourteen years ago)

Kauputt has basically ZERO relevance to new pornographers fyi

OTM. It has zero relevance to anything in 2011. Everyone who voted for this terrible record should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Matt DC, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

not impressed with this Destroyer so far. It's a bit tasteful and polite. Nothing to hate about it but its hardly genius like grady thinks.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

Only one sad little vote for my #1, mine.

La Lechera, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

the destroyer record goes a lot deeper than the initial sonic comparisons fyi

^◡^ (diamonddave85), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

just want 2 b "relevant"

Number None, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

What was it, LL?

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

yeah the album cover is pretty audacious

ciderpress, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda like the 'bad fantasy novel' aesthetic though tbh

ciderpress, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

It was Kieran Hebden, Steve Reid & Mats Gustafsson - Live at the South Bank and I think a lot more people would like it if they had heard it, esp considering what actually placed. OH WELL.

La Lechera, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:02 (fourteen years ago)

If someone with a voice that didn't make me nuts had made Kaputt, I'd have liked it a lot more.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:02 (fourteen years ago)

It has zero relevance to anything in 2011.

What difference does this make?

jaymc, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:02 (fourteen years ago)

his voice doesnt bother me at all. I think it may have been a better idea to play this just before bedtime.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

It was apparently VERY relevant to 12 people from ILM (and others who didn't actually make it their #1 votes).

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

I like Bejar's voice for the same reason I like Bowie's or Morrissey's.

jaymc, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

it was released in 2011 and a lot of people listened to it in 2011 and enjoyed it in 2011. that's pretty relevant imo

ciderpress, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

i like destroyer good record good victory for the New World lol britishes

#YOLO #NAMASTE (D-40), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:04 (fourteen years ago)

Half Man Half Biscuit got four more points than Tyler <3

bs and 'Why Do You Listen To Frog?' (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:05 (fourteen years ago)

thx guys, now I can buy this Destroyer album w/ a clear conscience.

Literal Facepalms (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:05 (fourteen years ago)

destroyer was my #1 as well. Took me a while to get into it, but it is an album worth investing some time in.

also I love his voice and lyrics, on this and on previous albums.

silverfish, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:05 (fourteen years ago)

4 tracks in and every song on this Kaputt album sounds the same - same tempo, same droney faux-English voice... Thought the Gayngs album from last year did a much better take on this kind of thing.

Sounds Of The Baskervilles (dog latin), Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:06 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, even if I didn't vote for it, I'm not gonna shit on the winner of this poll (that holds true for ANY album). Unless it would've been Hammers of Misfortune lol.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:06 (fourteen years ago)

lol

call all destroyer, Thursday, 2 February 2012 21:07 (fourteen years ago)
