Been away, just dropping in to say UNCLE FUCKING ACID! Well done to the rock Crüe, particularly Kerr who persuaded me to change my ballot after it had been handed in.

Sounds Of The Baskervilles (dog latin), Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

Cool, Uncle Acid placed... I don't really care about the rest.

billstevejim, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:39 (fourteen years ago)

hopefully a non limited no bullshit this time vinyl repress will come of the uncle acid.
Uncle Acid is from Cambridge btw. So it's strange seeing a brit heavy rock band in the top 10.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

discovering stuff like Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats is what makes lurking at this place worthwhile. My #2.

silverfish, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

xp yeah i would love that album on vinyl

billstevejim, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

uncle acid vinyl is going for $400+ these days. its bullshit

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:43 (fourteen years ago)

Lex, that Vatican Vibes video is great. The music really reminds me of Plaid - did you ever get on board with them?

Sounds Of The Baskervilles (dog latin), Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

how nuts is this

pistol annies: the year's most resonant recession album. tales of small-town women who are variously unhappily married, financially insolvent, addicted to pills or "bad women" in one way or another, and who respond to their non-ideal emotional, social and financial situations with, by turns, brittle optimism, defiance and utter, numbed despair.

concise (almost every song clocks in at under 3.5 minutes, but each one packs a hell of a lot into its narrative), witty, very sharp. "trailer for rent / no down payment / comes with some holes and dents where i got tired of his shit / call if you're interested."

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:45 (fourteen years ago)

the diehard version sells for a lot more as its ltd to 50

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:45 (fourteen years ago)

and it all sold out before i could get one :(

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

There's enough vinyl fetishists that would pay that, so can't blame them. The CD is only around $16, free shipping.

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

and uncle acid isnt really known outside of doom circles so imagine how much it would go for if they actually got p4k acclaim and got popular.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:47 (fourteen years ago)

i think The Quietus list was the only one that had them on it. but no doubt, like with the Ghost (Sweden not Japan) album, it might get a US release in 2012so make the EOY lists in december.

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:48 (fourteen years ago)

metal vinyl just goes nuts on ebay sometimes.

omar little, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:49 (fourteen years ago)

Yessir for DJ Quik. Tremendous album.

Ghetto Rendezvous the ice coldest track of the year, genuinely shocking to me

I didn't vote Quik, but it didn't need my help after all. YAY!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

"ghetto rendezvous" is for real the coldest rap track in recent memory

J0rdan S., Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

hopefully quik keeps putting out an album a year

yeah, but often metal. i've occasionally sold stuff on e-bay, and bidders do seem to lose their shit over "collectible" metal. plus the doods that buy it (and they're always doods) are often crazy obsessive and super-informed about billion weird little details, like comic book collectors.

I'm blanking on the fifth.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

Way to go Uncle Acid voters! Absolutely stunned to see that in the top ten!

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

uncle acid sounds really good!

skip, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

Kate Bush still to come.

Phibes Kartel (NickB), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

I'm losing my confidence in that.

_Rudipherous_, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

Right, Kate Bush!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

But then, how could she not have made the list at all? I guess you are right.

_Rudipherous_, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I think it's too high a placing, but I'm sure she'll make it.

I've been under the assumption those four would top 5 this whole poll but been unable to come up with the fifth. I was hoping it would be DJ Quik.

xp Oh yeah, Kate Bush.

lag∞n affiliated (The Reverend), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

Kind of surprised at lack of Wild Beasts though.

Phibes Kartel (NickB), Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

I found Eye Contact to be a considerable step down from St. Dymphna, but there are still a couple of undeniable jams on it.

jaymc, Thursday, 2 February 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

don't count out slick pulla
