idk i got addicted to that araabmuzik album as walking to work music, the sugaryness of it was like eating a couple of pop tarts for breakfast. weird, since i think it's meant to be night music

Was wondering if people were aware that the Nguzunguzu was nominated. Yep, technically it shouldn't be eligible but i played it more than anything else last year so i put it at number one

yeah, i didn't know that else i'd have voted it for sure

i did vote 'electronic dream' - kind of a gimmick maybe but it was a gimmick i liked a whole lot

Love everything about this album, even though I think Actor might be slightly better.

very cold album, which is probably the point. I voted for it.

The album/mood tracks are better than on Actor, but Strange Mercy could use a bit of "Actor out of Work" or "Marrow" energy to liven up the proceedings.

Didn't take to 'Replica'. Favourite Lopatin related thing this yr was the collab thing with Borden, Ferraro, Godin, Halo.

I liked Returnal more but now I can't remember what Replica sounds like.

Nowhere near as good as Returnal, I missed both the screaming noise and the strange ballardy balladry.

OPN consensus, it seems!

I listened to this in a laundromat once and thought it was p good at the time.

this is actually the liberating part of my whole music collection dying - so many of these albums were in my itunes, and i kept them for..."work purposes" maybe? just in case? and now i realise they need never be in there again

Backtracking a bit, I really liked the Araabmuzik album, especially the cheesiest bits. Not sure it's a musical direction that I'd be waiting to see develop all that much, but it was good fun as trashy genre hijacking.
