I keep seeing the name Nguzunguzu on ILM but have neglected to check it out. This looks interesting at least.

The Games thing was so much more enduring than 'Channel Pressure'. Enjoyed the instrumental version more than the vocal one.

oh awesome, Channel Pressure was in my top 5. wasn't sure if ilx was on it this hard

that moment when "wave ya hands" comes in was maybe my favorite "moment" in any piece of music i heard this year

I made it about 4 minutes into Nguzunguzu before throwing in the towel. Not my thing at all.

i checked channel pressure out last year but it didn't quite click w/me. fucking hard drive crash i keep going back into my itunes where they all used to be to relisten and there is nothing left ;_; ;_;

agree with Craigo. maybe the EP format just suited this kind of stuff better for me?

Channel Pressure really hit me. There are some catchy as fuck songs there and the production is very "now". Who knows what it will sound like in a couple years though.

The Panda Bear record is atrocious.

the real loveliness of the Nguzunguzu didn't really hit me until after several listens. would put it high on my list now

when this came out i wasn't high on it at all - it sounded great but i thought the songs weren't there. towards the end of the year though i found i was still listening to it a ton, especially on tube journeys (the production was loud enough to overpower the noise of the tube basically), and finding it very fun and memorable. so i think i tossed it near the bottom of my ballot. standouts: "i wanna go", "gasoline", "criminal", "seal it with a kiss", "(drop dead) beautiful", "inside out".

at no point does britney sound like a sentient human being - like even less than usual she's just been turned into a sex-and-partying automaton. this, it turns out, is fairly awesome to listen to. at one point on "drop dead) beautiful" you're kind of shocked out of the mood by a voice that sounds alive and human - what has happened to britney, you think! how has she malfunctioned?! it turns out it's the guest rapper (sabi from the bangz who is pretty awesome in and of herself)

I don't usually vote for mixes and don't really approve of free web mixes being included but that Nguzunguzu mix is FUCKING AMAZING and one of the best things I heard over the first half of last year. Such a fantastic summer mix.

The idea of Cut Copy beating Holy Ghost is just really weird, I wasn't aware anyone even liked Zonoscope that much, especially compared to the last one.

Intrigued by the Julia Holter, I've never even heard of that one.

Okay, I like "Till The World Ends," it's a great single. But I gotta say, WTF. I heard 526 albums last year better than that.

The Perfect Lullaby is such a perfect distillation of an aesthetic I didn't even know I wanted in my life.

The Araabmuzik record is alright when he's doing girly trance, he should embrace his inner house really rather than doggedly pursuing incongruous hip-hop beats.

It took me about three months to admit to myself that I actually really liked the Panda Bear album - OH THE SHAME - but I actually really do like it a lot... eh, what can you do...

i played the nguzus' dublab mix nearly as much as 'perfect lullaby' - more bangin' if you find PL too 'sedate' or something

couldn't get into that ford/lopatin, tho i loved "strawberry skies" the year before

my favourite thing on the araabmuzik album was "golden touch" - interpolating jam & spoon, <3 <3 <3 <3

also appreciated an actual rapper getting on that beat too - broadway ft. fabolous - 2 the money

for all that i thought as an album it was pretty but inessential

idk i got addicted to that araabmuzik album as walking to work music, the sugaryness of it was like eating a couple of pop tarts for breakfast. weird, since i think it's meant to be night music

Was wondering if people were aware that the Nguzunguzu was nominated. Yep, technically it shouldn't be eligible but i played it more than anything else last year so i put it at number one

yeah, i didn't know that else i'd have voted it for sure

i did vote 'electronic dream' - kind of a gimmick maybe but it was a gimmick i liked a whole lot

Love everything about this album, even though I think Actor might be slightly better.

very cold album, which is probably the point. I voted for it.

The album/mood tracks are better than on Actor, but Strange Mercy could use a bit of "Actor out of Work" or "Marrow" energy to liven up the proceedings.
