I don't think digipack would put me off this, although for other things it certainly has. Seems too many people use digipacks as a way to avoid putting effort into liner notes and so on... which is unfortunate...

Ladytron are also the first band for whom I've purchased their whole catalog as digital downloads.

yeah I don't find it as good as 'Witching Hour' (how could it be) but it's definitely solid. It seems to me Ladytron are summarizing in high speed Depeche Mode's evolution (from cutesy synth pop to a sinister grinding monolith)

Hahaha, nicely phrased. I saw them live two years back opening for NIN in London and they had pretty clearly settled into said latter status. Crowd loved 'em!

Man, they killed. Reminded me about what Chuck said (I paraphrase) about disco rocking harder than metal.

Yeah they are ridiculously great live these days -- I caught them two years back opening for NIN in London and that pretty much made me a full on believer instead of a casual fan.

They were great in Belfast a few months ago as well. Burnin' Up and Destroy Everything You Touch were godly.

The only things that would have made it better are both in this clip (coincidentally recorded in Houston in '06 either at the same venue or down the street @ tha Meridian)

I think they are really tight but man sometimes they are so OTT.

Wanted to see their show in Austin last week, but was the same night as MBV goddamnittohell.

Killed it last night. The Faint followed them and while the crowd was more there for them they couldn't compare.

when i was at uni in liverpool, (circa '03-05) they had a club night called "evol" in this little basement club. the guy members would dj and they had loads of cool guest djs like ivan smagghe and mark moore. had this great secret after-hours party atmosphere.

and they'd always be up for the odd convo about music or whatever, real chill fellas.

i think Destroy Everything You Touch holds up fabulously as one of the best electro songs of the last 5 years or so. they kind of invented that sound and it's been ripped off so many times it's exhausting now but they never got much credit for it. innit always the way though?

And the problem with being not that far off PSBs is?

Destroy is used brilliantly over the opening credits of The September Issue, like an implicit critique of Anna Wintour.

love this band to death - but never really enjoyed International Dateline.

i don't know ladytron well enough to know if there's any unreleased tracks or b-sides on that comp, but that's prob the only way i'd shell out for it. anyway...... the hidden gem in their catalog (and on that comp) is "another breakfast with you" -- fucking incredible track.

yeah this is great

the new album is out, and it's...a trip.

the highs are high, the lows are low (sometimes very low), and the overall production is...uhh...weird.

but I'm kinda digging it. 'Deadzone,' 'You've Changed,' and 'Paper Highways' are pretty fun.

The leaked tracks really didn’t impress. Still, I pledged to get the physical edition so looking forward to it. Love the cover art

It's a grower. Some good hooks but is it me or is this record brick-walled to death? Pretty disappointing since the music often blurs into a flat mush.

I have tried several times to give this a whole listen through, but its just way too painful.
hopefully its just the digital promo, and things are better on release, as this album sounds really bad.
shame, there are some cracking songs hidden in there.

I know "it's thematically appropriate" is a cop-out but in this case it is kind of thematically appropriate

Saw them live the other day and they were excellent. Sound was really beefed up, might have been the venue maybe, but they were really powerful.
