i can't believe how beyoncé just does everything perfectly: sings "tryna make a 3 from the 2" and then of course gets pregnant just in time for the video <3 <3 <3

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:28 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not even done listening to "Schoolin' Life," but I like it quite a bit better than "Countdown."

jaymc, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:28 (fourteen years ago)

Lay Up Under Me was one of the non-album tracks too. Give it a whirl, jaymc!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:29 (fourteen years ago)

"dance for you" was a bonus track too and i wholeheartedly cosign the love for that fucking epic thing

FOR THE MOOLAH
FOR THE POWER
(of love)

beyoncé in a couplet

prolego, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:30 (fourteen years ago)

all of the bonus tracks are better than most of the songs on teh album tbqh

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

schoolin' life is untouchable. should've been released and been #1 everywhere. i don't even care that she's just playing to every demographic, it's the most generous thing ever.

prolego, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

this is BEYOND sex

DO NOT CALL (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

eh, I don't really think the bonus tracks are essential at all

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:32 (fourteen years ago)

all of the bonus tracks are better than most of the songs on teh album tbqh

factual statement of fact

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

like, they are good, but they are all second-tier b-sides

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

this is BEYOND sex

lol i thought she was singing "this is BEYONCÉ" at first

SWIRLIN' ON YA BABE~~~~

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

Todd Terje - I voted for this!

Cashmere Combabe, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

"dance for you" is the only one that i don't think is one of the best things on the album, it's a bit too cocktail party for me

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

Oh I nommed the Miguel song. Had no idea it was this popular on ILM. I listened to it nonstop around this time last year.

So the next trifecta is for the ladies right? Nicki, Lana and Azealia?

Moka, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

damn, i thought those were for sure the top 2

plz god let "212" win now

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

lol @ me only realizing yesterday that Super Bass = Superb Ass

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

TOO LOW for nicki!

wow so the two blog girls beat the two mainstream girls smh

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

should've been #1 out of the three left nooooooo

prolego, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

yeah I heart both but 212 >>>>>> VG

Simon H., Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

wait

she's not singing "this is beyoncé"? well that's disappointed me

uberweiss, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

It's pretty amazing that Nicki thanked Taylor Swift when receiving the AMA award.

abcfsk, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

i had more fun with super bass in public places than any other song this year. it just fucking CREATES moments.

prolego, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:37 (fourteen years ago)

i like "212" and "video games" a lot but tracks 3-6 >>>>>

uberweiss, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:37 (fourteen years ago)

not really, they've been public friends for a while now

how is this "amazing"?

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

the part in "shit white girls say to black girls" where she starts singing "super bass" is pretty hilarious

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

Glad Azealia and Lana are gonna be at the top. Mostly because I've heard of and voted for these records. And also cos they're new artists.

I want your nose, your shoes and your unicycle (dog latin), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

I find it hard to believe Lana del Rey is at the top spots. I found videogames sort of unremarkable. Would rather listen to her other singles like 'born to die'.

I'm crossing my fingers at Azealia and some random favorite we're underlooking.

Moka, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:38 (fourteen years ago)

it was really remarkable how organic "super bass"s rise to becoming a huge huge ubiquitous smash hit was, having started life as a bonus track tacked on to the album proper - and how its increasing ubiquity just made me love it more and more

so many memories of rapping EVERY LINE with friends at house parties, in clubs, on public transport. YOU KNOW I REALLY GOT A THING FOR AMERICAN GUYS

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:39 (fourteen years ago)

Lana making the top 2 is a joke and a half, really

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:39 (fourteen years ago)

yup

call all destroyer, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:39 (fourteen years ago)

As long as it's not close. I bumped Azealia down my list a bit to boost chances of long shots :/

Jeff W, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

i didn't even vote for "super bass" smh. guess i thought of it as 2010

uberweiss, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

Never heard Super Bass before, it's not bad!

CJ Fam Club (seandalai), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

blah blah blah
I'm Lana Del Rey
video games

^^^^ for all the impression she made on me, she might as well be singing that rather than whatever the actual lyrics are

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

i love how t-swift repped for it before it became big. proof of what a perfect person she is. <3

prolego, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

still don't get what's so great about this song

crüt, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

those are the actual lyrics xp

CJ Fam Club (seandalai), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

can't imagine listening to those verses and not just grinning from ear to ear

uberweiss, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

xp kind of feel like what's great about this song is EVERYTHING ABOUT IT and if you don't get that there's nothing that can be said to you to make you get it

DO NOT CALL (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:42 (fourteen years ago)

1,023 points would have won last year's poll btw (admittedly we had a few more voters this time)

CJ Fam Club (seandalai), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:42 (fourteen years ago)

i love how t-swift repped for it before it became big

wasn't this the thing that actually kickstarted it being big? as nicki herself has said. it was certainly v impt

the t-swift/nicki "super bass" duet was so perfect.

That she felt the viral aftermath of that contribution was so big that she basically gave her credit for its success.

abcfsk, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:43 (fourteen years ago)

what's great about it: it's HARD AS FUCK and it's also BUBBLEGUM CANDY SWOON and it is all about having a massive crush on an amazing person and how that makes you feel even more of yourself and also totally powerless ALL IN ONE SONG

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:43 (fourteen years ago)

It is kind of weird and gross that the Year Of The Woman was spearheaded by a bunch of songs about women bending over backwards to change themselves into whatever the guy they were chasing wanted... and Azealia Banks talking about cunts
