I don't really dig Miguel, but it's... not offensive, I guess? In fact I'm only posting to point out that he uses metaphor not simile.

yup relistening i know this, when i was hearing it in my head as i was typing i managed to insert a few "like"s

Hehehe. It's actually more problematic as 'metaphor' also operates as the generic term, so a simile is a metaphor. But that's not what he's doing there. /pedant mode
― emil.y, Thursday, 26 January 2012 18:56 (fourteen years ago)
I guess Snooze 4 Love isn't placing then :( Unless ILM has collectively snubbed Rolling In The Deep.

Also I like Gucci Gucci way more than the one other time I listened to it.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 26 January 2012 18:58 (fourteen years ago)
xp I think the latter is more likely than the former.
― jaymc, Thursday, 26 January 2012 18:58 (fourteen years ago)
i would put money on ilm loving "snooze 4 love" more than "rolling in the deep", which i'm surprised you think would place at all

A lot of ILMers probably like/don't mind "Rolling in the Deep," but I doubt that anyone's all that passionate about it.

love this but ended up voting for ragysh
― Dan S, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:03 (fourteen years ago)
ha can't keep up with this thread.
pleased to see miguel place so high.
all the corny similes stacked up on top of each other are key to its appeal imo, it creates this tension of miguel trying so hard to find the right way to put into words something that you can't put into words.
this is so OTM.
also true that it doesn't quite hit at first. when it did finally click for me, it ironically coincided with a pretty brutal break-up. :(

haha #78!!

i love ragysh, too, possibly more, but i couldn't help going with the strategic vote for mr terje
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:05 (fourteen years ago)
There's nothing you could do to improve Snooze 4 Love at all. It is basically perfect for what it's trying to do.
Also one fifth of all voters voted for it, that's amazing.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:05 (fourteen years ago)

― blurgh (jjjusten), Thursday, 26 January 2012 19:06 (fourteen years ago)
It's driving me crazy how the portamento only kicks in on the top 2 notes of the arpeggio. Or maybe he's just put the two notes really close together and not quantized them. But it's a sound that is both jarring and yet slightly exciting, like, I listen out for it every time to see if I can work it out. Manages to be both expected and unexpected. Clever.

IF Snooze 4 Love is perfect for what it's trying to do I guess I'm not interested in what it wants to achieve. Pretty dull for too long, and once it gets going I've lost interest. Such is life.
