I mean granted, there is a disturbing amount of my inner dialogue that mirrors the running through the halls scene in "The Breakfast Club" so stuff like this is going to appeal to me regardless.

Sax solo on Midnight City is what pushes it above being stock M83 for me. Still, didn't like the most recent album enough to vote for it or any tracks from it.

Re-listening to the EMA, maybe it's just catching my mood right but I like this, actually. Some clear reference points, I guess, but I'm a fan of poetry over noise, so...

my go-to M83 track is probably 'we own the sky', still haven't heard the new one. i should probably rectify that!

"Graveyard Girl" is good but it isn't even the best song on Saturdays + Youth (which would be "The Skin of Night", with "Kim and Jessie" close behind)

oh yeah "We Own The Sky" is also great! I am so happy I discovered this band, they pander to me so much

i saw M83 w/the l.a. philharmonic, pretty damn good (mostly seemed to be playing digital shades type stuff iirc?)

I don't know what it is about m83 - technically I should quite like it, but he always falls short of pushing my buttons. This is okay I guess, but more deserving of a top 50 placement, not this high.

this M83 track is overrated to hell and back. nice to see Blawan place this high - didn't vote for "Getting Me Down", but still love the track (the can banging sample!) - weird at first, but a colossal grower!

I think that emptiness is very intentional, or at least it's something I gravitate towards; it's part of the whole self-insertion into the mood process for me, where I'm imagining myself looking longingly into Molly Ringwald's or Ally Sheedy's eyes before that magical moment when we kiss, and then "Midnight City" comes up as we lean back and smile at each other, the frame freezes and the credits start to roll.
