The Kingdom and Naomi track is just... not a very good song though, such a disappointment.

I guess not, but lex was talking about dancing to the Talabot/Glasser track upthead and that doesn't strike me as a dance song either.

thought lee foss's brandy sample on "keep my cool" was prob the best r&b-sample-in-dance last year; i thought it'd be a dead cert after the less-heralded danny daze placed, but it might be a bit high to hope for now?

I loved Kingdom ft. Naomi - think I voted for it, but 'Take Me' and Nguzunguzu's 'Deuces' remix and 'Another Girl' are all doing VERY very different things.

Anyway, I love this. One of my top 5 tracks, I'm pretty sure. I think I wrote as much as I'm going to about it over at TSJ.

Also, yay for Seany Mac placing so high. It didn't end up being my #1 (although it probably should have been) because I added it into the ballot last minute - wasn't sure if it should qualify at first, and so put it in high up but not at the top.

"Another Girl" sounds great indeed. I'm not sure if the manic overuse of the "whoo-hoo" sample was necessary, but other than that, great, moody post-clubbing tune.

It is not just a "meme", it's a different musical experience all-together, unlike anything else that has ever been made. It is not just a loop either. The idea that one can turn it off when one likes is very appealing, and in a way, revolutionary. The only thing that resembles it is listening to a locked groove. Never before has a looped piece of music been released, as just that, a loop. Nyan Cat can play forever, for 2 minutes, or 4 hours. You decide how long it lasts.

I don't like Calvin Harris one bit but We Found Love is still a huge tune.

It took being faded in from a totally melancholy poetry moody ambient bit at the end of this mix for me to really appreciate 'We Found Love'. Didn't vote for it, but quite like it, finally.

it's remarkable, of the many ways to stand out in a good way from the radio guettavomit, harris managed to find the one thing that made it even worse

i don't even like it as a song - i thought the funkystepz remix would solve it for me but it didn't. it's just an endless foghorn cycle in a void. as i said this song is a BASIC BITCH

It is a loop, but not released as "just one loop" that you yourself have to loop over and over. Rather (and I mean the 10 hours version on youtube proving how it is a work of genius and art), it will continue looping, you don't have to do anything, you turn it off when you please. It is presented that way. Which is very different from, as a listener, pressing a button for it to mechanically loop. This is an organic loop and it will go on forever, or for 2 minutes, for as long as you want it to be played.

that said it provided some amusement when i saw someone on twitter genuinely think it went "we found love in a homeless place" :/

It's more fun just to watch the lex wail on this one than try and intervene. I love the song, idg the complaints at all, but what a spectacle!

I get the complaint that the song is two lines of music repeated for 3:30, but considering the house tradition it's pulling from I don't really see that as a problem.
