call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

Heard it for the first time tonight, got 45 seconds in before giving up and I can't get the bloody tune out of my head. No wonder it's had 60million views on youtube.

fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

i would invite a coherent explanation of voting for nyan cat obv

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

I think I voted for both.

When is it ok to defend Kanye's "In Paris" verse?

billstevejim, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:58 (fourteen years ago)

I'm a sucker for a song with lots of meowing on it, so I'm good with this.

Moodles, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:58 (fourteen years ago)

^^^coherent

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:59 (fourteen years ago)

this might be more palatable for the moaners:

uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:59 (fourteen years ago)

"In Paris" was pretty much a meme so this might be the time for it

billstevejim, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:59 (fourteen years ago)

Nyan Cat was also my #1. Spending four hours with it on a loop when you're the middle of a breakdown does strange things to you. The cat is my friend. Possibly my only friend.

emil.y, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 19:59 (fourteen years ago)

(Love the spacerock version to pieces, also)

emil.y, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:00 (fourteen years ago)

spacerock version lacks meowing

Moodles, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:00 (fourteen years ago)

too soon

let's please not let any ILM thread devolve into a discussion about whether "Friday" or Nyan Cat is the better song

We don't have to fight

(possibly the worst thing I've ever listened to)

Plato’s The Cave In Claymation (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

hahahahahha

pandemic, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

oh my fucking god

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:02 (fourteen years ago)

I think that proves conclusively that Nyan Cat is far more tuneful than Friday. Rebecca Black sounds like an awful drone over the sweet kitty melody.

Moodles, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

possibly

pandemic, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

"Sanpaku" finally delivers

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

xp what does she think this is a fucking hardcore song?

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

i <3 the internets

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

BTW, I'm just going to assume that Nyan Cat was recorded by an actual super talented cat.

Moodles, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

"Nyan In Paris"

Make that happen people.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

I like "Nyan Cat", but as Youtube memes go, I'm not sure if it's better than "Can't Hug Every Cat".

o. nate, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

That cat cray

Moodles, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

this reminds me of...does anyone else remember that really weird period in the early 90s where vaguely technoed up versions of computer game music would get in the charts in the uk? i remember a super mario bros one and a tetris one

Yeah, seem to remember Andrew Lloyd Webber - of all people - was behind the Tetris one.

Gavin, Leeds, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

xp what does she think this is a fucking hardcore song?

okay lol

uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

Getting more pessimistic about any more of my votes placing.

John Gaw Meme (_Rudipherous_), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

I didn't find "Nyan In Paris" but I found this:

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

Nyan Cat is about as useful as all those comedy brostep tracks that stick loads of wub over 80s tv themes. That said, the spacerock version is absolutely brilliant.

I want your nose, your shoes and your unicycle (dog latin), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

Yay, if I had heard this earlier in the year it would have got my vote but ended going with tracks I had lived with for months.

pandemic, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

"Useful"

emil.y, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not really feeling "Another Girl"

uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

wow what is this

ciderpress, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

"another girl" is def cool... it's a bit post-dubstep pro forma for me to really get excited about tho

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

"another girl" is nice enough but i never really got excited about it, mostly because we already had the nguzunguzu remix of ciara's "deuces" (the source material of the vocal)

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:08 (fourteen years ago)

it should be noted that jacques is the dude w/ the glasses in the "212" video

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:08 (fourteen years ago)

yeah it's def a bit pro forma. lots of better stuff being made in its sphere

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:08 (fourteen years ago)

lol I never knew who that guy was.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:09 (fourteen years ago)

holy hell the Nyan Cat mastermix I posted may be driving me insane

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

Jacques Greene makes me think a little bit of the Balam Acab album

I want your nose, your shoes and your unicycle (dog latin), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

Nyan Cat is a monumental work of genius and it fully deserves its place in this list.

Amazed at the high Jacques Greene placing though - I had no idea it was so popular. I love it, but it's kind of the peak of a style (mopey post-dubstep plus disembodied r&b vocal) that I would like to go away now.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:13 (fourteen years ago)

lol @ jacques green

sisqó inferno (Lamp), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:13 (fourteen years ago)

Matt DC is a man of exquisite taste!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:13 (fourteen years ago)

Thanks for looking Dan. I want to hear the cat meowing over the NIP beat.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

idk, the pro forma for me ended up being more like "this sound at its best/peak". nguzu are a different animal imo, but I'm not sure i can explain why

xp what matt dc just said

rob, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

happier to see the Jacques Greene here than a lot of the album cuts that comprise the middle part of this list

Dan S, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

kinda sucks that "another girl" placed and kingdom/naomi allen's "take me" and blawan's "getting me down" probably won't

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 20:16 (fourteen years ago)
