the talking on the mic is 100% them trolling listeners like ronan imo

⚓ (gr8080), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

i haven't heard the mixes where they talk over it, when i saw soul clap there was no mic action and it was a pretty chill crowd

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 23:33 (fourteen years ago)

this hot creations/crosstown rebels sound was pretty refreshing when it first came out. "l word", "forward motion", "without you" are aces. but then they keep retreading the formula to the point that it became boring and predictable. I can't stand Maceo Plex.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 01:41 (fourteen years ago)

I can't wait for the inevitable curation of Hot Creations because it will be one disc of great post-minimal vocal house and it will be all I need.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 01:49 (fourteen years ago)

from this scene I mean, not by itself alone.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 01:50 (fourteen years ago)

im very tempted to start a separate s/d thread but i really really love everything ive heard on the life + death label partic the pillowtalk ep from late last year:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESHsqWl4A_c&feature=related

anyone have suggestions/thoughts??

# (Lamp), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 04:26 (fourteen years ago)

i like both pillowtalk eps, probably like the one on w+l even more than that ^ one tho. what else is on that label?

i think what hot creations is doing has a lot more in common with azari & iii style vocal house revivalism than anything else, and i love it - even tho yes it can be somewhat formulaic

psychgawsple, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 05:04 (fourteen years ago)

theres a dOP 12" 'after party' that i really vibe and a bunch of remixes by ppl that i vaguely recognize. they arent updating their website which is p lol but they only have four 'official' releases

# (Lamp), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 05:10 (fourteen years ago)

listeners like who? what's a listener like me? might want to update your ilm filofax.

also love this, it's like "you've fallen completely into their trap"...OR maybe there's no problem with speaking on the mic, they just say really stupid cringey shit.

;-)

⚓ (gr8080), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

honestly i only ever heard them do it on their BiS broadcast, where they openly stated "people keep calling in asking for us to stop talking... so we're gonna talk more!"

⚓ (gr8080), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:53 (fourteen years ago)

i think we talked abt this before tho

⚓ (gr8080), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:55 (fourteen years ago)

'jesse pinkman accents'

sisqó inferno (Lamp), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:55 (fourteen years ago)

worst one is actually soul clap

http://soundcloud.com/r_co/soul-clap-la-boum-de-luxe-22-1

39.30...it's just fucking awful. i had no prob with the BIS set.

doesn't help that the song is dire too.

x-post he actually does sound like jesse pinkman here imo.

The original mix of "Soft" is a good pop song. But that Life & Death remix sounds just like every other Tale of Us remix.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:11 (fourteen years ago)

dunno what year these two tracks are from but really like both, no idea what they are tho

wellll you say that like its a bad thing!!

sisqó inferno (Lamp), Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:33 (fourteen years ago)

well too much of a good thing is not good, bro. I mean, I enjoy all of tale of us previous remixes but when I heard this track, I thought, oh not this bass sound again.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:58 (fourteen years ago)

I've been trying to find out some ID's from this mix. Maybe someone could help me here? This is one of my favorite mixes in 2011.

http://mnmlssg.blogspot.com/2011/08/ssg-special-john-osborn-panorama-bar.html

The tracks that need ID-ing:
@ 06:00
@ 19:00
@ 25:00
@ 30:00
@ 32:00 (wow!)
@ 36:00
@ 43:00
@ 48:00
@ 89:00

whoa that's a lot.

yea... was going to say, i dig most of what i've heard from tale of us. i get the impression that i value aesthetic consistency more than other ppl itt based on this and other comments re: hot creations

didn't really pay this one much attention until the ra eoy poll but it's excellent (also turns out it's on life and death. i will now pay attention to this label)

psychgawsple, Thursday, 26 January 2012 03:56 (fourteen years ago)

^ benefits from using a similar vocal style to art department but not falling prey to using the same damn cadence over and over again like that dude tends to do

psychgawsple, Thursday, 26 January 2012 04:02 (fourteen years ago)

the seth troxler edit of that track is sick

'ok' (Lamp), Thursday, 26 January 2012 04:05 (fourteen years ago)

Cashmere Combabe, Friday, 27 January 2012 00:40 (fourteen years ago)

Damn I had high hopes for The Skrill-X Factor

boxedjoy, Friday, 27 January 2012 00:42 (fourteen years ago)

surely DJ factor won't actually happen.

the emancipation of me-me (tpp), Friday, 27 January 2012 09:49 (fourteen years ago)

I'm really into this at the moment, think it just about fits in here

"a wild card panelist in Jamie Jones a up and coming Welsh producer who was voted Essex’s No 1 Minimal Dj in the summer of 2011."

a joke surely

YES... New Omar-S = always a cause for celebration:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQPy_HSLDSA

Clarke B., Monday, 30 January 2012 06:33 (fourteen years ago)

I like that Oskar Offermann track. I have a weakness for that sort of steel-drum percussive sound.

Moka, Monday, 30 January 2012 08:24 (fourteen years ago)

wow, that omar-s track might be the best 2012 track I've heard after Inspector Norse

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 30 January 2012 11:27 (fourteen years ago)

anyone can ID these 2 amazing tracks played by nina kraviz?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 30 January 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)

yep. new omar-s thing is p great

psychgawsple, Monday, 30 January 2012 16:24 (fourteen years ago)

New Omar-s reminds me a bit of this Avondale Music Society joint

Mad Christmassy, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 12:40 (fourteen years ago)

can anyone tell me if maya jane coles is worth seeing?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:50 (fourteen years ago)

In other completely non-shocking news, this new Theo Parrish "Translation" on Running Back is great as well:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVz0rkZUFRQ

Clarke B., Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:20 (fourteen years ago)

I posted Translation 2 upthread, but yeah they're both great.

matt2, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:04 (fourteen years ago)

re: Todd Terje

the new/original productions on 'remaster of the universe' sorta hinted that he might start doing the whole wacky live band thing a whole lot more

His remix of Bjorn Torske's Langt Fra Afrika is more along these lines - I hear a real bossa nova influence in it, it's fun enough but kinda disappointing in the context of his current run of original material.
