P&J - 343
Pitchfork - DNP

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

Re: Creep. Voted for "Days" instead (which seems unlikely to place), as "You" is trip-hop unvarnished by the passing years.

The dance massive is certainly out this year. Its just a different dance massive than mine.

Plato’s The Cave In Claymation (Sanpaku), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, i love that sleazy, druggy, hypnotic sound, seems somewhat of a piece with "in a hole" to me

xxp

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

nice! this was on my longlist and i didn't know whether it had a chance of placing

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:32 (fourteen years ago)

huh well i love "grove st party" a lot but i had no idea it was a 2011 thing

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

haha the more I hear of contemporary hip-hop, the more I like Waka in comparison

dude would not have a career in Juvenile's heyday but I guess someone had to take up the baton

Chaka Collar, lemme rock you (DJP), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

thugged out ecstasy rap will never not be amazing tho

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

"grove st party" is the shit, but i don't really think of it as a 2011 song

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

Voted for "Principles" (a few extra vocal gears with the pitched-down "PRINCIPES" + the Remain In Light-era Byrne bug-eyed mania), but glad "Walk & Talk" placed - the dreamy smear of the vocals suits the lyrics perfectly. "When I come home she doesn't even say hello" :(

many xposts: YESSS "Grove Street Party"

etc, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:37 (fourteen years ago)

I also voted for Principles instead of Walk & Talk but it was a tough choice.

skip, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

Slowroll = splitting the top 20 over two days (10 per). Doesn't matter to me, really. If people want it all done on Thursday, I can do that.

P&J - 226
Pitchfork - DNP

http://soundcloud.com/nadiaoh/nadia-oh-kate-middleton (all the videos I could find were 90-second edits)

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

Bring the hammer down on Thorsday.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

dang, cool pic for this one.

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:45 (fourteen years ago)

OH YES

Angrrau Birds (seandalai), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

nadia oh is another one that i saw a lot of people praise this year but i just didn't get. it's not CATCHY enough for a dance-pop song.

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

Colours is such a good album. Could just have easily voted for Jump Out The Window or a few others.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:47 (fourteen years ago)

sweet! i think this is the 5th one to place from my ballot

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:48 (fourteen years ago)

Oh I like this a lot

Chaka Collar, lemme rock you (DJP), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:49 (fourteen years ago)

oh hang on this is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT version to the 3-min one i've been trying to get into! no fucking wonder i didn't get it, this is a bit of a monster. is this a remix?

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:50 (fourteen years ago)

I think this is the proper album version. The single edit is less than 3 mins.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:51 (fourteen years ago)

although the vocal line still starts annoying me well before it ends, oh well

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i was gonna ask you guys--you're voting for the 6 min one right? because it's just ridiculous enough to be awesome.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

didn't know about this track, but I like it

Dan S, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

okay the beat is awesome, i wish someone had either bothered to put an actual song on top of it, or not bother pretending and just remove half the vocals

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, the 6 min one is the one i love. the shorter edit just confused me.

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:53 (fourteen years ago)

Single edit is pointless...the full version is just nuts and over the top and stupid and I love it.

Angrrau Birds (seandalai), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:54 (fourteen years ago)

everything about this is fantastic, actually

Chaka Collar, lemme rock you (DJP), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:55 (fourteen years ago)

Louder Youtube version is here btw.

Derartu Cthulhu (NickB), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

I almost voted for Nadia Oh. Found it uninspired on first listen then found myself singing it at random points in time. It's a cute song.

emil.y, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

THROW YOUR WALLETS IN THE SKY.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

soooo it's the kim kardashian song with a weirder beat and much much less of a tune

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

the appeal of this song isn't really the nonexistent tune

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:11 (fourteen years ago)

soooo it's the kim kardashian song with a weirder beat and much much less of a tune

or, to put it another way, it's nothing like the Kim Kardashian song

Chaka Collar, lemme rock you (DJP), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:11 (fourteen years ago)

PICTURE ME TROLLIN

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

lol

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:13 (fourteen years ago)

Nadia Oh is fantastic to dance to - even more bubblegum than most moombahton, which isn't exactly averse to catchiness. I highly recommend "No Bueno", too:
http://soundcloud.com/nadiaoh/nadia-oh-no-bueno-masterr

etc, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

Er, "Taking Over The Dancefloor" is fantastic to dance to, etc.

etc, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

There's something pathological about its dead-eyed robotic determination to annoy and bludgeon you onto the dancefloors. It is transcendently irritating and all the better for it.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

Nadia Oh is fantastic to dance to

toooo sloooooow

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:18 (fourteen years ago)

lex didn't you just call it "kind of a monster"

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:19 (fourteen years ago)

I was always surprised her first album didn't really take off. It's packed with potential hits. I suppose her vocals would be the issue for a lot of people.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:20 (fourteen years ago)

If you can't dance to that Nadia Oh track you're doing it wrong.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:20 (fourteen years ago)

Whoa watching and hearing that waka flocka for the first time and just found out a friend from France that I hadn't spoke with in years is dancing in there. Just messaged her and it's really her...

Not really interesting but it grabbed me by surprise. Not really feeling the song but dancing bear is great tho.

Moka, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

lex didn't you just call it "kind of a monster"

i changed my mind again before the song ended

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

oh, duly noted

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

toooo sloooooow

hahaa wait, weren't you all over "Wut"'s jock last year

Chaka Collar, lemme rock you (DJP), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:24 (fourteen years ago)

The Nadia Oh sounds promising but it lacks some 'oomph'... really like it... is this a demo or a rough draft? It sounds like it could use some extra mixing.

Moka, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

idk i think if the nadia oh didn't have pretensions to being a dance-pop song it'd work much better? if you're gonna be dance-pop you have to be CATCHIER and FASTER

tinie tempurah (lex pretend), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 20:27 (fourteen years ago)
