I liked the Battles album as a whole. I may be the only one here, so I thought I'd throw that out as a dissenting opinion.

her realest ballad though. "i don't know much about fighting but i know i / i would fight for you / and just when i ball up my fists i realise / i'm laying right next to you" - every time i listen to it i still end up basically stopping everything else i'm doing

this was high on my ballot. stunning song.

Guilty pleasure/new listen so far on this list is probably Yuck. Just for shameless exploiting my teenage soundtrack nostalgia circa 1995 in a way I'm not entirely comfortable with.

The Danny Daze track is so dope though. I'm glad that one made it. Probably most likely from the Hot Creations releases this year, backed it over Forward Motion.

"schoolin' life" and "countdown" were both on my ballot, so I didn't really want to vote for any more beyoncé tracks, but "1+1" is so awe-inspiring. yeah the lyrics are a bit silly, but I like the paired down simplicity of it all, and terius does a really great job with the arrangement too. love her voice surrendering to the guitar at the end <3

Oh I agree 100%! That and "I Miss You" are my favorite ballads on the album.

kinda grew tired of this one, but it's still nice to see "Nuh" place! jamaican (?) accent will cease to amuse me

so many amazing dancehall tracks this year i had no idea which to vote for (and in fact which i DID vote for) but this should've been one. such a great premise of a song - love how he simultaneously berates the shit dj AND seduces the girl, and never loses the smoothness at any point
