yeah i realised as soon as i posted that "melody" wasn't what i meant. possibly "counterpoint" wasn't either. "those things that bounce off the main melody in a deeply satisfying way"

So I never really got into Aerial. I feel like picking up this KB album would be a bit like starting with the 6th series of the Wire. Does it matter that all I've really listened to is Hounds Of Love?

Nah, not at all.

I guess I just love the community aspect of this more than worrying about whether some obscure song I (and only I) like places somewhere in the top 77. If you voted for it, it's somewhere in the long list. Meanwhile, hear some stuff you haven't heard and figure out what makes it so appealing to other voters.

Guilty pleasure/new listen so far on this list is probably Yuck. Just for shameless exploiting my teenage soundtrack nostalgia circa 1995 in a way I'm not entirely comfortable with.
