vocals are fine; i love how the song backs up into a killer hook. I def caught myself singing "The ghost town, the ghost town" (or whatever she is singing) after the first time I heard it

Her voice really reminds me of Ari Up from the Slits.

Matthew Herbert did all the production on the album. She was just the voice on top (I don't know how much she had to do with the writing in the end).

xp Ari Up comparison is interesting; I dont totally hear it, but Slits are def one of my favorite bands so

I was expecting to listen to about five minutes of that Mogwai track, but then I found I couldn't turn it off.

I'd never heard of Barbara Panther. It's alright. Was going to say that the production is pretty great, but then if Matthew Herbert did it, kind of makes sense.

when did the voting for this happen? assuming the album voting happened too? i totally missed it somehow. wouldn't have voted on singles anyways but would have liked to vote on albums.

It all happened over the first two weeks or so of January.

I think it's unfair to describe her as "just the voice on top". The album credits her as co-producer on all the tunes, and AFAIK most/all the material on it already existed in demo form before Herbert was attached to the project.

See? I'm a total latecomer. Don't own the physical album, so I've not looked at the credits and I never heard the pre-Herbert demos. Pardon me ignorance.

I'm enjoying this 3BALLMTY song quite a bit.

Anyway, nice to see "Moonlightpeople" make it this time (I nominated it last year too, since it first came out on a 2010 digital EP), though IMO "Unchained" is the true best song on the BP album (and somehow I forgot to nominate that one). If you remain sceptical about Panther, at least check out that tune, it kicks like a mule.

Barbara Panther = the sort of thing I'd really enjoy if someone stuck it on in the outloud room, but will never ever energise my enthusiasm enough for me to put it on of my own volition.

I'm not sure what to make of 3BALLMTY. Some of it is just crazily cheesy, but other bits I do like, and it's kind of... charming, I guess? Also, what is with the shoes?

The synth hook on the 3BallMTY track is awesome, but the male vocalist sounds pretty generic (though of course I have no idea what he's saying), and the chorus sung by the woman feels like it belongs to a different, slower and less manic tune (nice chorus anyway).

invisible conga people was in my top 5. people who are hearing them for the first time should check out the rest of their discography (which is like four songs all equally good)
