three years pass...

My friend was just telling me about seeing Genesis in Philly maybe '83, at JFK, with Elvis Costello, Blondie, Robert Hazard (maybe), the Hooters and Flock of Seagulls opening.

yeah that's kind of weird. LiveNation package tour I assume; they're also doing: Liz Phair/Garbage/Alanis Morrissette. I can see some level of commonality there but frankly, almost no one I personally know who would like to see Garbage has any interest in anything by Liz Phair after 1994 and wouldn't be caught dead at an Alanis show.

maybe I'm just projecting but I think there's a decent amount of overlap between Garbage and Phair fans, not so much with Alanis.

I think Phair/Alanis/Garbage is a great bill, and makes a lot of sense.

Garbage opened for Alanis in 1999.

the LiveNation listing is a pretty frank assessment of each act's relative commerical appeal:

Alanis Morissette w/special guest Garbage & also appearing Liz Phair

Saw Elvis and Blondie on that tour, outside (Parade Stadium in Minneapolis) at what I think they called a Beer and Barbecue Festival, along with Duran Duran, Greg Kihn and locals Sussman Lawrence (Peter Himmelman). Elvis was great (and the Durans).
