― Siegbran, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:41 (fourteen years ago)
who is that?
― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 23:47 (fourteen years ago)
Long, devastating slices of classic riffage, with that dramatic and possessed singing, with that feel that only Lord Vicar (and, obviously Reverend Bizarre) can deliver. It's that sort of music that feels like an ancient painting from a mysterious land. Its beautiful and unsettling but at the same time catchy, heavy and irresistible. It's an album that feels incredibly dense but at the same time calls for repeat listening.- Doomantia

49-26 to come tomorrow
― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:04 (fourteen years ago)
oooh, I voted for that pretty high. One of my favorite this year in general.
― Frobisher (Viceroy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:05 (fourteen years ago)
Weird. That was #9 in my experimental/ambient list. I wouldn't have voted for that even if this was the heavy music poll rather than metal. It's not remotely heavy.
― Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:06 (fourteen years ago)
See, I don't really consider Barn Owl metal at all (despite the fact I reviewed them in Decibel).
― Gamera died for our sins (J3ff T.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:06 (fourteen years ago)
I cry (f)owl.
― Gamera died for our sins (J3ff T.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:10 (fourteen years ago)
Heh. Will we also see Alexander Tucker, Caretaker, Phaedra, Vladislav Delay, Tim Hecker, Grouper and The Book Of Knots? Peaking Lights? EMA, Austra and Planningtorock? Adele?

Barn Owl sounds like something I need to check out.

Kerr otm on all accounts; hooray for Barn Owl!!!
― uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:45 (fourteen years ago)
Love Barn Owl, but I file them in with faux Western soundtracks like Scenic and Dead Texan, rather than metal.
― Plato’s The Cave In Claymation (Sanpaku), Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:45 (fourteen years ago)
Didn't vote for them myself but it's a really really good album.
― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 00:50 (fourteen years ago)

Sorry that I missed out on this. Just got back on board today. Nice list!
― Nate Carson, Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:53 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, I like Barn Owl well enough but not enough to vote for them (I don't think).

― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 09:04 (fourteen years ago)
I will put my hand up and admit I voted for Barn Owl. If we're crying "not metal" then Shooting Guns are a prime candidate too IMO.
― good luck in your pyramid (Neil S), Thursday, 19 January 2012 09:31 (fourteen years ago)
Anyone going to predict the top 10 to see if they're right tomorrow?
― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 10:06 (fourteen years ago)
hey guys. what'd i miss?
― Ioannis, Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:24 (fourteen years ago)
Some cool albums
I am sticking with my Uncle Acid/Liturgy/YOB top 3 though I do admit that I forgot about Mastodon, but I maintain that'll place maybe 4th or 5th
Others in the top 10:
CorruptedWITTREsotericPsychic ParamountSubrosaIndian
― uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:48 (fourteen years ago)
I love that Psychic Paramount record but didn't vote for it. Self-censored it as "not metal."
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:50 (fourteen years ago)
and Indian placed yesterday.
Corrupted will do well, maybe top 3.
― good luck in your pyramid (Neil S), Thursday, 19 January 2012 14:04 (fourteen years ago)
Lol. I forgot Indian already placed. Alright, swap that out with 40 Watt Sun.
― uncle acid and the absquatulators (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 19 January 2012 14:12 (fourteen years ago)
it was a short night's sleep, wasn't it?

― Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Thursday, 19 January 2012 14:15 (fourteen years ago)
wow, low! I think I would have predicted this as top ten. It's good, but definitely more of the same.
― good luck in your pyramid (Neil S), Thursday, 19 January 2012 14:17 (fourteen years ago)
I loved The Bees Made Honey... but this record didn't grab me at all. Didn't put me off, just wasn't captivated like I had been before.
Love the cover though.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 19 January 2012 14:31 (fourteen years ago)
Their new one has a good cover too, in the same style.
― good luck in your pyramid (Neil S), Thursday, 19 January 2012 14:31 (fourteen years ago)
I hope the new one gets me hooked on the band again.
