It's Fast Company. They specialize in taking any claims made by companies and blowing them up into Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons.

The magazine now is, undeniably, a more substantial, higher-quality product overall. It grew from 9” x 10.75” to 9.5” x 12”. The March/April issue is more than a half-pound heavier than the January/February issue — 304 percent heftier. We upgraded the cover from thin glossy paper to a thick matte-finish stock; inside, the paper stock is a mix of glossy and uncoated.

Jessie J was a v bold choice for cover star
― DNRIYHM NATION 1814 (some dude), Monday, 27 February 2012 16:32 (fourteen years ago)
really hope they do change the whole mag's look. i bought one a month ago cuzza this thread and it was pretty much unreadable in that 90's kinda way. or maxim kinda way. actually worse than maxim. i dunno, it just looked terrible. 400 different tiny little things on every page. 90's spins looked terrible too though.
― scott seward, Monday, 27 February 2012 17:17 (fourteen years ago)
I just think it's funny that they're so excited about how their new, modern product is HEAVIER and BIGGER.
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 27 February 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)
saw the new issue on Sunday. kinda feels like Vogue now or something.

would like to think i'm responsible for this whole thing considering i told the tele-resubbers that the magazine was pathetically thin
$6/month isn't so bad, but there's better alternatives for the bi-monthly format (Under the Radar, Filter...)
― NO NUTRITIONAL CONTENT (kelpolaris), Monday, 27 February 2012 22:02 (fourteen years ago)
the Frank Ocean article was good
― Artful Dodderer (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 27 February 2012 22:07 (fourteen years ago)
i think the one thing i'll miss is "this month's hottest" or whatever that page was. got a lot of good things off that, if it didn't rile me up that 80% of the page was some phoney mashup graphic of all the artists

I'll prob buy the issue just to support cuz I think what they're going is great BUT I wish they'd write about shit I actually care about I mean... Sleigh Bells? Eugh...... kind of seems like the same old shit in terms of who they're actually covering, now they're just writing more words about it but like, who wants more words about Sleigh Bells?

― I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 14:37 (fourteen years ago)
whiney: OK, filter isn't so great aside from it's ~aesthetic~ but Under the Radar warranted a subscription for me just based on how many *words* each issue has. spin devotes, or devoted (haven't checked the new issues yet), 75% of it's space to bands posing and posturing and generally trying to broadcast their -vibe-.
the big takeover is also another good bi-monthly but i really hate the dude's writing and his affinity for putting an exclamation point behind sentences that never, ever deserved them
― NO NUTRITIONAL CONTENT (kelpolaris), Tuesday, 28 February 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

20 of 22 people found the following review helpful:5.0 out of 5 stars all right by me !!!, March 24, 2008By Matthew G. Sherwin (last seen screaming at Amazon customer service) - See all my reviews(TOP 100 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) This review is from: SPIN (Magazine)I like Spin magazine. Sure, it has a lot of ads and they primarily cover newer trends in music. There's not a lot for people who like classic pop vocals here! However, I always like to keep my head tuned in for new artists and the evolution of music; and so for me Spin magazine serves the purpose well. Moreover, the quality of the paper, images and text is great; and the binding is well manufactured, too.
Spin has articles on great new music and hot developments in the music industry. For example, the current issue focuses on R.E.M. and their "resurrection." I love it! They also have smaller articles with pictures of other newcomers to the music scene.
In addition, look for interesting articles like "who earns what" and "the honor roll" of new gadgets like t-shirts and wireless earphones that are rather informative about what's "hip and happening" today. It could be construed as tabloid gossip; but to me it's a great reprieve from heavy duty thinking!
Overall, Spin magazine is a fine choice for those of us who want the latest news and trends from the music industry. The writing isn't exactly Shakespearian; but you didn't buy this to read Shakespeare! The articles are actually rather well written and the humor is OK by me. I recommend this magazine for fans of modern music and people who enjoy updates about their favorite artists and bands.
actually I do buy Spin to read Shakespeare.
get on that Whiney
