I'm sure i listened to Flight Risk but i'll be damned if i can remember a thing about it

Number None, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

lol me neither. listened to too much last year.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

just know I liked it.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, Flight Risk was dope. But his stuff by nature is pretty effortlessly cool and understated... better than the sum of its parts thing.

there was one track I really loved on it and I can't for the life of me remember it. think it was the 4th track and came from a prior mixtape?

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:16 (fourteen years ago)

Game is great on "Imma King." He and Jacka are a great pairing.

Seriously, this might be might favourite rap track of the year so far.

new gucci is dope

this is good. flight risk was aite. felt kind of slight. 'tear gas' and 'street album' were definitely huge event records by comparison. apparently it was unofficial. jacka tweeted recently about how he was just hearing it for the first time? maybe he was fronting though.

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:40 (fourteen years ago)

"Imma King" stood out for me too

Number None, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

Its "I'm The King (remix)" and it came out on Game's "Purp and Patron" mixtape from last year and it was also on my year end list

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

post/dn combo

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

i listened to rich forever today and really wanted to like it, but ross just doesn't have enough ideas or flows for a 20-song mixtape. there are a few joints but it's really a slog to get through imo - the worst parts are the "BMF" knockoffs with second-rate beats like the opener, "holy ghost"; it's like, dude, no one dug "BMF" for your flow, come on

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

terrible post

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

we totally like BMF for his flow. His phrases become mantras

BIG MEECH. LARRY HOOVER.

no one else could pull that off

"King of Diamonds" is a total BMF track & it's an easy tape highlight.

SOMEBODY CALL THE BRINKS TRUCK

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

I've had the B.M.F. chorus stuck in the back of my head for like the last 7 MONTHS. i hear it in the back of my mind like at least once an hour.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:57 (fourteen years ago)

i love Rich Forever. been spinning it in my car all week.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

Its "I'm The King (remix)" and it came out on Game's "Purp and Patron" mixtape from last year and it was also on my year end list

You're right. I knew it sounded familiar. They cut the Mista FAB verse, though, which I miss.

"I know its hard to hear but I'm a Realest." (rennavate), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

ah yes, i knew it sounded familiar. Heard in on your 2011 comp

Number None, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

lol

i'm just not seeing that he's improved enough to carry a project that big. i'm fine with living my life as if ross isn't some rap star i have to listen to for 20 songs in a row

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

come on listen to that first track and tell me you're not like stooooooop

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

deej's post reminded me of Janitor from Scrubs saying "terrible job" to the dude doing the wedding ceremony

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

i don't hate the mixtape or anything, like i've said i dig ross generally, he just is who he is to me. i don't see how this is any better than the better half of deeper than rap

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:02 (fourteen years ago)

the first track isn't really lyrical mastery, he repeats phrases over and over and rhymes words with the same words, but it's still a dope sounding track, and I like his lyrics on the tracks after that.

"Fuck 'Em" is my fav atm.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

there are def a few "BMF" style tracks that could be cut, but the album still totally bangs

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:06 (fourteen years ago)

the two tracks w/ diddy are basically the least essential, but if you don't fuck with "high definition" and "mmg untouchable" and "yella diamonds" and "fuck em" and "last breath" and "king of diamonds" then idk what to tell you

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

you may have to stop listening to new rap music, cuz that's basically as good as new street rap in 2012 can sound imo

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

anyway deej i listened to LA state of mind today too and that >>> the ross. production on that is bonkers

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

High Definition is soooooooo great.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

that a-mafia song deej posted a week ago slays any song on rich forever. if i want street rap i'll find a guy who's held a gun without holding a badge

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:12 (fourteen years ago)

the hook on that gucci song is great, too bad about future's verse tho

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:12 (fourteen years ago)

hahahahahahahahaha, okay eskay

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:13 (fourteen years ago)

guess Ice T is out

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:13 (fourteen years ago)

if there's anyone that fiends for the absolute realest of street rap, it's white kids that go to college in connecticut

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:15 (fourteen years ago)

ha come on dude chill it was a cheap joke not some yells at cloud appeal for authenticity

point stands tho that i'm willing to guess that 2012 will have better street rap to offer than ross

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:16 (fourteen years ago)

probably from someone on MMG with him

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

so all i have listened to this weekend is that future song

i think about 100 times

tpp, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

that rhymes with "peak spill"

xpost

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

i wish lil b has a verse on 'yella diamonds'

tpp, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:18 (fourteen years ago)

loved the production on "yella diamonds"

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:20 (fourteen years ago)

so going back to Live from the Kitchen, I think this is really good as far as it isn't watered down like many other street-mixtape-artist major label debuts have been. I do think it's not a patch on any of his mixtapes, though (especially CM2 or CM6), in that lyrically it's less focused and more laid back, but there's a lot of hard-assed tracks on it. Plus hell, I still love his voice...him and Jeezy.

still tho....still enjoying it many listens later.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:21 (fourteen years ago)

really want more rappers to record love songs in 2012

tpp, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:23 (fourteen years ago)

everytime I think of rap love songs I think of Tasty Taste's 'love' song from Fear of a Black Hat

Neanderthal, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:25 (fourteen years ago)

i unconditionally love future now :-/

tpp, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:31 (fourteen years ago)

well that E-40 is brilliant. Had to rewind his verse

Number None, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:48 (fourteen years ago)

new jacka is really pleasant, but much like 'indictment' isn't really leaving a huge impression. he just doesn't sound as hungry as the jack artist through tear gas period. that was an insane run

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Sunday, 15 January 2012 10:06 (fourteen years ago)

i have trouble coming up w/ things to complain about w/ it, so it's not like its actively bad, just v sorta laid back smoke-y resignation or something

I Love Pedantry (D-40), Sunday, 15 January 2012 10:06 (fourteen years ago)

the gucci verse on the future tape is really good

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 15 January 2012 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

i got more blocks than mutumbo
two hoes who look like j. lo in my condo
shawty my accountant cuz i need some help to count it
took that rrari out and went and mount it first day out the county

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 15 January 2012 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

"deeper than the ocean" off this tape is really awesome

tyga mother (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 15 January 2012 16:01 (fourteen years ago)

so Tear Gas was good then? the local FYE has that. Not like I don't already have way too much music to listen to, but I am going on a flight tomorrow so....

xxpost
