somebody call the brinks truck (D-40), Monday, 9 January 2012 06:12 (fourteen years ago)

I love it too, still want this new one to better it though.

Youncle Buck (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 9 January 2012 06:23 (fourteen years ago)

Although my post didnt indicate that fact :/

Youncle Buck (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 9 January 2012 06:24 (fourteen years ago)

At this point we need some kind of convoluted venn diagram to cover all the various narc of sd positioning on the-dream's ouvre.

Tim F, Monday, 9 January 2012 06:26 (fourteen years ago)

fuiut(hink) love king isn't his worst album

still waiting for finney and shipley to deliver their verdicts on this one

rebecca blah (k3vin k.), Monday, 9 January 2012 06:37 (fourteen years ago)

Still like it even though it is his worst one (besides that other one)

Youncle Buck (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Monday, 9 January 2012 06:40 (fourteen years ago)

saying its his 'worst album' (i assume you're excluding 1977 which is 10x worse) is arguable at best -- there's no universe in which it's a definitive loser in that race. imho.

somebody call the brinks truck (D-40), Monday, 9 January 2012 07:51 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I love all three, just like Lk a tiny bit less than the other 2 atm. I pretend 77 isnt there.

i do not really have the facts to back this but this song kinda blows imo. it's satisfying that it's occupying that kind of sonic zone he excels in, but i feel like the song isn't even there; he usually - on the dream records - has such distinctive phrasing, part of what makes so many of the insane metaphor couplets so memorable, & this just feels like autopilot. wasn't surm talking about the uselessness of 'roc'-centric jams, recently. also rooting for something because it ~might~ ~possibly~ ~portend~ a return to form just reminds me of being 16 and being really invested in when my favourite shitty band was gonna get good again. also it kinda reminds me of justin bieber, idk. i like the first minute of the weird squishy outro but the song is really lazy to me & the only satisfaction i can get out of it is that it is the-dream & i like the way those records feel.

quick brown fox triangle (schlump), Monday, 9 January 2012 15:35 (fourteen years ago)

tbf dream has written a couple bieber hits, lol

good post tho

J0rdan S., Saturday, 28 January 2012 19:58 (fourteen years ago)

I'm having a hard time with this one, sadly. It just sounds like a YouTube video that's constantly rebuffering.

Evan R, Saturday, 28 January 2012 20:32 (fourteen years ago)

he's had demos leak before... wouldn't be surprised if this one was too

J0rdan S., Saturday, 28 January 2012 21:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i quite liked the palette of this & then zoned out slightly, but i'd be psyched if it was a demo

he's producing on the Pusha T album. The rest is just asking about his influence on those dudes etc

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 19:48 (fourteen years ago)

if you get to interview the-dream and your THIRD QUESTION is "i want to know what you think of the the weeknd" you need to get the fuck out of the-dream's office

pre-tennis ball head-era chris brown (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

There's a video for ROC now too

"wow i have a face to face interview with the-dream, let me ask him about every hot new singer"

pre-tennis ball head-era chris brown (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 20:04 (fourteen years ago)

complex needs to do a street fashion listicle on the most horrendous glasses/shades they've photographed musicians wearing, with the pic at the top of that interview at #1

the ROC video is relatively undorky by his standards

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

now granted i would've spent the entire interview secretly gathering material for my 33 1/3 pitch on the-dream's entire 2009 output, but still

pre-tennis ball head-era chris brown (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

I will totally pre-order that book.

Evan R, Thursday, 23 February 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

oh man all of us better be cited like crazy in such a book

ploppawheelie V (k3vin k.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

"As Dr. Shipley noted on Saturday, January 21, 2010 at 3:07 PM, the concept of 'falltime' is entirely a creation of Nash's imagination."

Tim F, Thursday, 23 February 2012 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

shockingly unpretentious and pretty fun video

pre-tennis ball head-era chris brown (J0rdan S.), Friday, 24 February 2012 03:13 (fourteen years ago)

The song just seems like such a non-starter as a single. It's so slight it's barely there, and it runs five and a half minutes. Even in a radio edit, could any station really play this in regular rotation?
