How is this a "bullshit challop opinion"? flockaveli was a major label record I was comparing this to, and this might as well be major label, for all intents and purposes
― Regional Thug (D-40), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:27 (fourteen years ago)
Lmao dude, having an opinion is "bullshit posturing position" now? Take a valium
― Regional Thug (D-40), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:28 (fourteen years ago)
Most consistent high-profile rap lp since flockaveli

seems to be the case, teflon don is dope but he has improved even since then as a rapper & performer. its true teflon don has prime lex luger & kanye but the production on this is extremely strong

Major label records are mastered
― pug waffle (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:30 (fourteen years ago)
so are you saying this will be as good as td when a nodj cdq of this drops?
― flopson, Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:32 (fourteen years ago)
rick ross beats sound expensive
this record sounds mastered to me \oO/
― Regional Thug (D-40), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:50 (fourteen years ago)
but im just listening on koss porta pros
― Regional Thug (D-40), Sunday, 8 January 2012 02:51 (fourteen years ago)
regardless, the notion that mixtapes can never be as good as LPs is total bullshit. i'm not trying to be 'indie' here, sometimes i love major label lps, sometimes i prefer mixtapes, in this case imo the mixtape wins out
he has improved even since then as a rapper & performer
Lol yall keep telling yourself this #fillingavoid

man I never feel less in touch with what's up than when I hear any of you guys praising Rick Ross as a rapper or a point of interest at all. I tried. I listened when he first came around and I try every time he comes up with something new. straight garbage, bad writing, bad rapping, dull character, I don't get it. to hear dudes who legitimately love live & breathe rap praising that dude is like hearing guys who saw Glenn Gould play saying "you know who else is good on the keyboard, John Tesh"

he can write verses, he's got a gift for theatrical imagery, but really end of day it comes down to Bangers, and he makes huge ones. It just makes other dudes songs sound tiny in comparison. this is massive blockbuster rap music, it just bulldozes everything else

mmm, the idea of rick ross being able to make a banger half the standard of say "what you know", that does all the things you're pretending he can do.

Ross is about both volume and economy all at one. You guys sound like Rush fans making fun of Flipper.

man I just went and listened to "B.M.F." I mean...he is just a horrible rapper. the comparison isn't Rush to Flipper, it's Flipper to Rhino 39. "Who?" you say. Exactly.

like how a guy who loves rap as deep as Whiney can rep in any way for this is like just deeply confusing to me. I like math-metal and I like bonehead death metal and a lotta shit in between, but that doesn't mean I gotta like bands who suck & are awful. I'm not even trying to be contentious it's just like when I hear actual encyclopedic-rap-knowledge cats riding for Rick Ross it really is like seeing people eat a Happy Meal and going "you gotta admit, this food is excellent, really good food here at McDonald's"
― unlistenable in philly (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:20 (fourteen years ago)
Ross's voice is awesome and it's not like he's still doing "boss/ross" rhymes anymore. guy isn't a lyrical mastermind but he drops catchy couplets, and has a knack for catchy choruses.

those big luger joints aren't my favorite ross eithern try my favorite ross song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyJ-I88nFdo&ob=av2e
or his verse on the new juvenile single - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUQ1gJcu9Dc
if you don't like either of those you prob won't like any ross

michaeljacksoneatingpopcorn.giffwiw i've heard ross sound okay on a few far-and-in-between tracks, but for the most part i find him as enjoyable as waka flocka, which is to say not.aero, try this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XrtRrRPePY

xxxpost like seriously, what is with this 'high standards' stuff? it's not like anybody has said "well, Ross is better than most of the other mainstream rappers out there" or any other watered down defense that focuses on the lack of bad qualities rather than presence of good ones. Even saying he "writes good verses" was lampooned. isn't writing good verses a prerequisite for a quality rapper?
Since when do all rappers have to be technical wizards to be enjoyable? Ross as a lyricist doesn't even remotely scrape the top in the genre, but I enjoy his lyrics, simplistic as they are. If his lyrics were all inane boring shit, nobody would see the big chasm of difference between Trilla and the stuff he makes today (I do like Trilla tho).

Rick Ross is enjoyable the same way Dr Dre was circa 2001.
there's also a similarity in the importance of economy & hugeness
― somebody call the brinks truck (D-40), Sunday, 8 January 2012 04:35 (fourteen years ago)
not saying hes better cuz dr dre in that era holds a special place in rap memory for me, but i dont doubt that kids today feel the same way abt Ross
neanderthal i think you have posted more about meshell than i have this year, but you can definitely shove your ad hominem nonsense up your cunt. quit addressing me. don't even look at me. you're unattractive on the inside
