i have a physical copy on order (lol buying music). disappointed that he didn't absolutely kill this release cuz this was probably my most anticipated drop of the year, but I guess it's better than nothing.

oh well, one month until Jeezy once again pushes back TM103!

there's good 'lyrical' and bad 'lyrical.' eminem in 2011 is the latter.

I kinda lost interest in Em once he downsized the humor quotient of his music after Marshall Mathers LP

Eminem also sounds completely aggressively aggrieved all the time, which is almost as annoying as clumsy whiney zings

i think everyone thinks it's by far his worst album, but ppl like me & lex seem to like it more than others.

as far as i can see, you, me, maura and whiney like it, mdc doesn't, deej didn't like yelawolf anyway and tim f is prejudging it before hearing.

well if you've already decided yelawolf's career trajectory before his debut album has even been released i wouldn't like to say

oh please. Trunk Muzik was far and away my favourite album of last year so I still expect to like this. I just think it won't be surprising if, having gotten everything about his aesthetic right the first time and by himself, he now increasingly makes bad choices.

Also, holding this up as his "debut album" is basically pandering to major label positioning.

Em's verses have been so scatological the last 5 years that I can't believe he hasn't built an entire song around a sample of "when you're sliding into first, and you feel somethin burst..."

i like em's verse just fine -- it's not AWESOME or anything but he's still pretty good in fast rap dick mode -- i think everyone is calling it terrible bcuz dude's career atm is largely terrible, but they aren't the same thing

dude sounds so angry & humorless. its very off putting imo -- obviously its 'technically adroit' or whatever but thats about as meaningless as oj the juiceman's adlibs are to the quality of his music.

his OTT faux-soap opera seriousness was why I checked out around The Eminem Show and Encore (although the former did have the badass "Soldier" on it).

it's one verse! like i said, it's not awesome or anything but it's listenable. ppl were really overreacting earlier.

Like dude, Em's in total Relapse mode here and on "Ronan's Revenge," like this kind of self-conscious "oh-remember-when-I-was-rap's-enfant-terrible" vibe much in the vein of like Jay-Z's "ignorant shit." If you think Em's really mad, then you're probably Tipper Gore or something

I love this stuff. I loved Relapse too.

People can justify they're derision anyway they want, but It's basically the same fake-anger shockrap + assonance as Odd Future without the Terry Richardson photos/trendy chillwave shoutots/WTFBBQ SO YOUNG TEENAGRES IAN CRUTIS

i think because em is rapping super fast and gesticulating really wildly that ppl think it has to be GREAT or something but it's just a passable, pretty average verse, which happens all the time on rap albums, just in eminem's style

I kind of feel like the cure for the 2012 Nicki/Yela/Waka idea of half an awesome rap record and half record label people clearly flailing for pop crossover hits is like release a WHOLE awesome rap record that people will champion as a piece of art/5-mic classic (it's certainly not hurting Killer Mike/Big Boi/Kanye/Danny Brown) and then release tons of sell-out pop jams as MP3s until one sticks
