i love the production on "throw it up", love that spare piano. tbh eminem doesn't bother me at all, mostly cuz he just shows up at the end, while i'm still reeling from gangsta boo

They aren't endearing when they are directed towards you.

Lex dude the Gangsta Boo verse isn't even that good - Yela's is loads better.

Also I get the goodwill towards this album after everything that Yelawolf came out with last year but come on, 3/4 of this is seriously piss-weak. It's like mainstream rap is so terrified of flopping that it continues to cling the same three or four tricks that make everyone sound almost exactly the same.

Like I don't even know what all these watery sung choruses are doing here. You'd think that making a commercially successful or even potentially successful Yelawolf album would be a fucking no-brainer, the hard tracks here with the soft stuff replaced with a load of rap-rock or country beats would surely do better than this desperate grab for the middle-ground.

Not heard this yet but I've kinda resigned myself to the fact that this guy's career is gonna be a long downhill plummet from 'Trunk Muzik'.

Like, I really hate it when artists sell out in such a himfisted way when a much better and cooler way of selling out is staring them bare in the face.

so cynical! and on no evidence apart from superimposing other artists' career trajectories on to someone who's shown no actual slipping of his skills.

about one-quarter of this is weak, not three quarters, and there are only two outright stinkers.

Everything after Throw It Up is lame and the previous stretch contains Let's Roll.

The Kid Rock track actually sounds better in the context of the album. I'll give it that much

Well I really like roughly half of Trunk Muzik and don't really listen to the other half anymore and I like about half of Radioactive. 'Trunk Muzik' the track is still my favourite tho.

"Made in the USA" coulda been great but wow is that chorus ever awful.

I love Mike too (and his record from this year is better than this) but the album he's doing with El-P is gonna be called R.A.P. (which stands for Rebellious African Peoples) Music, so he's not averse to bad titles. And the Slumerican Shitizen thing fits pretty well with his persona

i think "slumerican shitizen" is a bit more knowing than Rebellious African Peoples Music
