There are something like at least three threads about this on new answers now. Ilx is deep onto dubstep

I remember encountering and being delighted by a track Trolley Snatcha - The Future on some YouTube novelty video two years ago and hungrily tracking down the other artists then labeled filthstep and being dissappointed. It's kinda stunning how its blown up since then.

It reminds me of the moment in 1991 when Nirvana broke and my Sonic Youth fan pals and I were so enthused that grunge would clear the lingering hair metal and new jack swing from the radio. That didn't turn out well.

Still like this unofficial remix from 2 years ago:

Poor Skrillex.

beachville, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 13:58 (fourteen years ago)

It must be pretty disheartening to have a fanbase made up entirely of people like that. He should make a minimal ambient record just to fuck with em.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 15:17 (fourteen years ago)

i just made a slow, pretty brostep track to see if it would work. minimal ambient wobbles.

Avicii - "Levels"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ91VPOgasQ

this is going to soundtrack so many questionable mardi gras moments it's not even funny

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 13:52 (fourteen years ago)

i know "Levels" is a few months old now, but i just finally realized that this song i'd been hearing everywhere actually is a song that has a name and not kind of background memory-amalgam of every other middling euro anthem i've ever heard

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 13:53 (fourteen years ago)

i've never actually heard the original just remixes before, i'd actually picked up quality's raved-out bmore club mix

http://soundcloud.com/unorthodoxquality/aviici-levels-qualo-more-remix

re: the original it sounds more standard clubhouse / trance than *step though

the tune is space, Saturday, 25 February 2012 21:41 (fourteen years ago)

I mean that video / "song" / look / aesthetic combo is like a perfect storm of bad taste of Chernobyl proportions so . . . be warned

but does it technically belong here because it uses that dubstep-lite beat ala Magnetic Man "I need Air", even thought it doesn't have a wub wub drop?
