This reminds me of a gag on Modern Family I liked, where the character thinks he's going to see Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons but is disappointed to discover it's Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

Erroll Garner and Mal Waldron, for some reason. They're both pianists/composers, but their names aren't similar, apart from r's and l's. I even listened to one of them today, as part of an Eric Dolphy box, and I can't remember which one.

This one confused me for quite a while. I couldn't reckon how the noisy and alienating band I once heard in person had managed to become so beloved and commercially successful
― Josefa, Saturday, 25 April 2015 03:46 (nine years ago) link
That is exactly what happened to me. I saw Black Dice live and a little while later saw them being celebrated. I never gave Black Keys a proper listen thinking they were the noisy alienating band I saw.
