In "an eagle in your mind" a creepy voice says "i love you" once and "the color of the fire" has the 1970's Sesame Street sample of the little girl saying "i love you" over and over again. Which one?

Tough one here, but ill go with "sixtyten" because of the moldy, hazy, dying synth solo tacked to the end.

Polo Pony, Wednesday, 5 February 2003 04:34 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, it's the creepy one: track 2 on 'music has the right...'

Disgusted that there is no Nlogax on here already !!!!

Addham, Friday, 26 March 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

"Music is Math" is the only one I can really recall.

Aquarius - counting = classic

noodle vague (noodle vague), Saturday, 27 March 2004 12:07 (twenty-two years ago)

"Dawn Chorus" because something awful and depraved appears to be going on in the background.

Nag! Nag! Nag! (Nag! Nag! Nag!), Saturday, 27 March 2004 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
it used to be everything you do is a balloon (see upthread). i think by now after about 15 listens i can safely say that dayvan cowboy from the new album is the apex of their art. how i imagine satori to be.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Sunday, 23 October 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

Today the answer is "Julie and Candy". Still haven't listened to Campfire Headphase enough to properly rank those songs, but I feel like none of those top that.

more like BORING of Canada

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!, Monday, 24 October 2005 08:41 (twenty years ago)

first i heard was 'Pete Standing Alone' and i bought everything on the basis of that (turned out the rest of it sounded a lot less like autechre than PSL did but nice enough anyway). so that would be my one.

the counting on Aquarius gets me every time.

never understood why they left that 4th peel session track 'XYZ' off the cd.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 24 October 2005 09:04 (twenty years ago)

I'm unsure as to whether the copy of Campfire Headphase I downloaded is correct (can't afford proper copy yet but I will get it on pay day). I like the second track's twisty bassline and the echoey first track but the rest sounds a bit too much like what Autechre were doing circa 1997... odd!

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:01 (twenty years ago)

1997? (Quickly consults discogs...) Chiastic Slide? Crazy talk! What are your track lengths? One should be 0.44, two should be 5.47. I can't comment on twisty basslines as my ipod is suddenly refusing to actually play any of the tracks.

ledge (ledge), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

"Telephasic Workshop". it's the only track of theire i particularly rate but i do LOVE it.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Yup, it is fantastic, and under-appreciated.

ledge (ledge), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:35 (twenty years ago)

actually "Happy Cycling" is great too and the one where the counting goes wrong. maybe i like them more than i think i do.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

I really don't know much BoC beyond "music has the right..." but that elusive "XYZ" track from the peel session is one of the GREATEST things I have ever heard.

haitch? (haitch), Monday, 24 October 2005 10:51 (twenty years ago)

" '84 Pontiac Dream " off their new one is an obsession for me right now. Listen to that while driving. Gorgeous.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Monday, 24 October 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

dawn chorus

sleep (sleep), Monday, 24 October 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

Consider this another Matt in DC saying "1969" — although I like that little solo keyboard thing on Music Has the Right..., whatever it's called...

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Monday, 24 October 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

Seconded with Dawn Chorus.

as for the short/interlude bits, its so very short, but nice and tense-- "rodox video"
i might also add that i was a huge huge fan of the remix for Beck. really beautiful

"Open The Light"

skoolbus39 (skoolbus39), Thursday, 13 April 2006 22:02 (twenty years ago)

"kid for today" - the whole of the "beautiful place..>" ep is brilliant tho, I think their best work by a mile, says everything they say elsewhere is a more concise, emotionally affecting manner.

gekoppel (Gekoppel), Thursday, 13 April 2006 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Dandelion.

and if it didn't exist, Telephasic Workshop.

"Magic Window"! No, I kid, this is just an excuse to post a link to the "Dayvan Cowboy" video:

http://www.warprecords.com/dayvancowboy/

I can't decide between "Everything You Do Is a Balloon" and "XYZ."

Telephonething (Telephonething), Friday, 14 April 2006 11:19 (twenty years ago)

Oh yes, also note that the "Trans Canada Highway" EP comes out 06/06/06. Hah.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Friday, 14 April 2006 11:20 (twenty years ago)

gekoppel OTM. 'Beautiful Place' ep is all anyone really needs. everything else they've done is weak in comparison.

and, OPO=Kid for Today.

i agree. i'm a sucker for things that sound like they are sung by depressed or dying robots though.

that's my OPO too.

Scary Move 4 (dog latin), Friday, 4 May 2012 16:01 (fourteen years ago)

every about 3-5 months i'll actually do a facebok status update, usually in form of music video i like enough that i think other people will like it and we can all proceed to like it

thing is, every time i post a video it's boards of canada. i think i posted a velocity girl video once, but only in a conversation with somebody else. anyways, i'm at about my 6th boc video on my profile now. i must look psychotic.

kelpolaris, Friday, 4 May 2012 22:16 (fourteen years ago)

your facebook friends probably just think you are trying to brainwash them.

flappy bird, Monday, 21 November 2016 04:59 (nine years ago)

Oh goddamnit, how could I forgot their utterly brilliant remix of cLOUDDEAD's Dead Dogs Two?

It's just a remix, but it's so much more than that - it vastly improves upon the original song, has wholly unique bits and that classic A Day In the Life ending.

Also their remixes of Poppyseed are also POO worthy. Ugh... these guys are too good.

octobeard, Tuesday, 22 November 2016 04:24 (nine years ago)

Remix of Beck's "Broken Drum" is fantastic too.

attention vampire (MatthewK), Tuesday, 22 November 2016 04:35 (nine years ago)

Constants are Changing, maybe? But it's Amo Bishop Roden, really. Or the track with the psychedelic guitar off the 35 Random Track Tape.

If I didnt go for IABPOITC , it would probably be Music Is Math

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 23 November 2016 11:37 (nine years ago)

i'm always disappointed that "alpha & omega" isn't the autechre track off "move of ten"
memory fault
goto 10

massaman gai, Wednesday, 23 November 2016 11:44 (nine years ago)

xp Music Is Math is so great.

My top ten:

1. In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country
2. Music Is Math
3. Aquarius
4. ROYGBIV
5. 1969
6. '84 Pontiac Dream
7. Olsen
8. Happy Cycling
9. Zoetrope
10. Telepath

Very heavily weighted to their first two albums but that's cos I just didn't enjoy the Campfire Headphase and while I really like Tomorrow's Harvest, I can't really think of specific tracks that stand out.

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Wednesday, 23 November 2016 13:50 (nine years ago)

Nothing is Real is my favorite off of Tomorrow's Harvest.

what_have_you, Wednesday, 23 November 2016 17:06 (nine years ago)

New Seeds is mine.

As for whole discography, probably a toss up between Music is Math and Happy Cycling.

chap, Wednesday, 23 November 2016 17:49 (nine years ago)

I pretty much enjoy all the ones with numbers or counting on them

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Wednesday, 23 November 2016 18:00 (nine years ago)

three weeks pass...

Today it's "Corsair".

attention vampire (MatthewK), Sunday, 18 December 2016 03:31 (nine years ago)

now i'm thinking it's the midnight star remix.. would dig a whole album of BoC remixes of 80s r&b, their "short mix" of "trapped" was dope as hell too!

btw sorry matthew k for election night hostility :(

a but (brimstead), Sunday, 18 December 2016 03:36 (nine years ago)

'twas a hostile night brimstead, all in the past now. Except for the fucking result.

attention vampire (MatthewK), Sunday, 18 December 2016 12:34 (nine years ago)

(also my post was very much AA-lite, but I thought that was the general language of recovery, having never addressed my demons in an organised way)

attention vampire (MatthewK), Sunday, 18 December 2016 12:35 (nine years ago)

five years pass...

everyone has heard their remix of Poppy Seed, yeah?

death generator (lukas), Monday, 20 June 2022 20:40 (three years ago)

Playing Tomorrow's Harvest currently. Their second-best album.

death generator (lukas), Monday, 20 June 2022 20:43 (three years ago)

everyone has heard their remix of Poppy Seed, yeah?

There's two - and honestly the reprise is my fav of the two.

But the best BoC remix by FAR in my book is their remix of Dead Dogs Two. Am I weird thinking these guys have a thing for Oakland? Their remixes of cLOUDDEAD (Dead Dogs Two being a particularly poignant homage to Oakland in its own way) and Odd Nosdam tracks and the cover of Tomorrow's Harvest snapping SF from the vantage point of Alameda... maybe just coincidence.

octobeard, Tuesday, 21 June 2022 06:19 (three years ago)

and honestly the reprise is my fav of the two

I know there's two but didn't think i needed to specify, because nobody would prefer the second one except a total WEIRDO

death generator (lukas), Tuesday, 21 June 2022 16:17 (three years ago)

lmaooooo aren't we all here? I mean have you read how passionate the Autechre threads are on this board?

FWIW the reprise was my morning alarm music for a good two years.

octobeard, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:25 (three years ago)

I just jest
