i literally have no idea how "I DONT GET KREAYSHAWN ALSO IM 28" was a successful pitch in the NYT, let alone something that warrants commissioning a graphic.

Youth Ya Goon (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

was it the NYT that published the p***f**k r*v***s r*v***s article?

who the fuck is their commissioning editor and, like, why?

all i see is angels in my eyes (lex pretend), Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

this is at least a more convincing pitch than that was

women laughing alone with salad vs. gucci gucci

goole, Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:38 (fourteen years ago)

i kept scanning for something worth hanging onto in that article

nothing came

fauxmarc, Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

"I don't understand kids today and I'm 28. Does this mean something?"

mh, Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:53 (fourteen years ago)

kids get older faster in the future imo

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 10 November 2011 17:58 (fourteen years ago)

ain't nothing nice (bnw), Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:06 (fourteen years ago)

eh, kids stay kids longer these days than in the past

or, as some dude I ran into in a bar who was celebrating his 25th birthday and seemed to have a more small-town mindset implied, you should feel like a failure if you're not married with a kid by 25

mh, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

Pretty grim piece, but I liked this line: "it basically sounds like what someone who hates rap might imagine all rap music sounds like"...

Clarke B., Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

i really like edith zimmerman! i think shes very funny!

max, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:14 (fourteen years ago)

i always enjoy ganging up on non-ilxors who write about music but i forgot how defensive i feel when its a non-ilxor whose work i enjoy

max, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

i really liked that GQ profile of that chris evans (?) that she wrote but this piece just wasn't very good

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

anyway this piece does not really play to EZs strengths and she does have horrible taste in music but i recommend her blog "the hair pin"!

max, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

oh god, that Chris Evans profile

Number None, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

heh that piece on chris evans had some of the same problems. we are maybe reaching the point where "writing well for the web" really actually doesnt translate into "writing well in print"?

max, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:17 (fourteen years ago)

but all told i think shes one of the best/funniest bloggers in the game so h8rs to the left

max, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:17 (fourteen years ago)

I don't think we're hating on her as a person, just the fact that this article is horrible

Don't worry, we'll love you even if you write some horrible articles, max. But we'll let you know.

mh, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:19 (fourteen years ago)

im not really getting heated! just maybe trying to add some 'context'

max, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:22 (fourteen years ago)

btw I have seen and enjoy the hairpin.

mh, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:24 (fourteen years ago)

this article is hilarious

sex-poodle Al Gore (DJP), Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:29 (fourteen years ago)

I couldn't make it past the first sentence

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:37 (fourteen years ago)

so instead I watched a guy get fucked to death by a horse

ASPIE Rocky (dayo), Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:37 (fourteen years ago)

wait it's funny?

fauxmarc, Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:55 (fourteen years ago)

Ooh, I want to crush that name flat between two good, old, important books and eat the resulting paste

she talks like a Questionable Content character

Youth Ya Goon (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 10 November 2011 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

i'm 28 btw

what part?

AFAP Raggett (D-40), Thursday, 10 November 2011 19:56 (fourteen years ago)

its not even about the song itself, that piece is just like. "oooh someone is so 'cool'" like its trying to be cooler than something cool by pretending not to care about being cool?

AFAP Raggett (D-40), Thursday, 10 November 2011 19:59 (fourteen years ago)

^ solitary posts that effortlessly summarize the spirit of ilm

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 10 November 2011 20:01 (fourteen years ago)

what part?

the part where she has a mini existential crisis about feeling old because she doesn't like Kreayshawn

sex-poodle Al Gore (DJP), Thursday, 10 November 2011 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

i guess that seems like a weird example to me, feel like that song could have come out any time in the past decade & been as big -- its a pretty standard joint

AFAP Raggett (D-40), Thursday, 10 November 2011 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

I think focusing on the treatment of Kreayshawn in this article is to fundamentally misunderstand/misread it; it is self-absorbed navel-gazing to a hilarious degree (which I would have thought would have been emphasized by the omg I'm old crisis being caused by... Kreayshawn, who is mostly inoffensive/ignorable in a world that contains Tyler)

sex-poodle Al Gore (DJP), Thursday, 10 November 2011 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i mean i guess ive had that exact same idea tho before but it deserves a couple seconds of conversation when you're at a bar w/ your friends, not extensive think-piece writing

AFAP Raggett (D-40), Thursday, 10 November 2011 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

also it just seems late on the backlash train

fauxmarc, Thursday, 10 November 2011 20:28 (fourteen years ago)

i am genuinely dispirited by this thread

and a butt (Lamp), Thursday, 10 November 2011 21:55 (fourteen years ago)

we just aren't that into designer labels

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 November 2011 22:19 (fourteen years ago)

let alone something that warrants commissioning a graphic.

the gauld makes it all worth it tbh

٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶ (sic), Thursday, 10 November 2011 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

Tyler songs are not going to be played at the bar when you're they're with friends. "Gucci Gucci" will.

mh, Friday, 11 November 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

* when you're there

What the hell has happened to me

mh, Friday, 11 November 2011 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

When I was 8 or 9, my grandmother took me to McDonald’s for lunch, and the toy that came with the Happy Meal was a cricket that chirped when you spun its wings. (A “Mulan”-related toy, if that matters.)

wait, this girl's 21 or so? talk about feeling old...

latebloomer, Friday, 11 November 2011 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

wait...the article says she's 28

mulan came out in '98 which meant she was 14 or 15 at least.

latebloomer, Friday, 11 November 2011 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

sorry, but inaccurate happy meal stories are inexcusable journalism.

latebloomer, Friday, 11 November 2011 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

she's 28. the lead is a glaring error that she acknowledged on her twitter.

mutant slow drum (BradNelson), Friday, 11 November 2011 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

christ if i'd known premature cranky old ladyisms could have been my entrance into the times i would have been putting this gender-ambiguous name to work for me.

strongo hulkington's ghost dad, Friday, 11 November 2011 16:35 (fourteen years ago)

not gonna judge a teen for ordering Happy Meals, I used to get those in college

sex-poodle Al Gore (DJP), Friday, 11 November 2011 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

how on earth is that enough food for a grown man

strongo hulkington's ghost dad, Friday, 11 November 2011 16:49 (fourteen years ago)

you get two of them

also means you get to double up on the toys!

sex-poodle Al Gore (DJP), Friday, 11 November 2011 16:50 (fourteen years ago)

man remember when mcdonalds had those nasty ass "fajitas"? i used to consume my weight in those.

strongo hulkington's ghost dad, Friday, 11 November 2011 16:51 (fourteen years ago)

it did save me having to go to mcdonalds for fries and taco bell for "mexican" in order to make a complete meal.
