The artwork is the best thing about the label and I think has a significant impact on perception of the artists. I've lost count of the number of articles I've read about NS that start talking about colour even when the music is quite murky.

I really like both Main Attrakionz and Jam City but wasn't feeling that track at all unfortunatly. Looking forward to the album mind. Feels like its been in the works forever, I sware one of the Night Slugs guys said it was ready to go in 2010. They must have done a do over or something.

If nothing else a Jam City / Main Atrakiionz collabo is a good candidate for any 2012 time capsule.

tbh the new girl unit ep has kinda overshadowed the jam city album in terms of my attention - "ensemble" and "club rez" really are stunning, and i love that there's no attempt to even go near trying to recreate "wut" - is anyone else using the EP format so well right now?

lex you said upthread something about night slugs using the EP format better than anyone else, still trying to figure out what you mean by that and why you said it, seems like they use the format more or less like any other dance artist

That new Slackk EP on Local Action is indeed a beast. He's really nailed those fucked up synth melodies. Almost Transparent is ace too, the subtler synths work a treat on that one.

I think he meant Girl Unit himself rather than Night Slugs? But yeah I don't really get the point.

Is Ensemble (Club Mix) meant to sound like 'In Your Arms' by Mylo?

ikonika's new i make lists EP is finally out and it's incredible, maybe the best thing she's done yet - the melodies are just mind-blowing, the way she makes the synths sing, and the amount of cavernous space around them...

Just came back from the Night Slugs/Fade To Mind showcase at SXSW. Saw Nguzunguzu, Kingdom w/Kelala, L-Vis and Bok Bok. The whole night was good, but L-Vis/Bok Bok were the highlight, and yes, they did Bring In Da Katz.
