Feel more ambivalent about the lyrics to Razzmatazz than I used to - they feel comparatively mean-spirited to me (as against Lipgloss say), & I'm less comfortable with vengeance & spite than I was. But then it was my #3 so y'know not that uncomfortable with vengeance, spite.

Disco 2000?

encarta it (Gukbe), Tuesday, 1 November 2011 17:52 (twelve years ago) link

Nope..

xp I think that though I try to be more uplifting and positive, there's still a little room in my heart for "nyah nyah" moments & that lyric is so perfectly bitchy, in an eloquent way..

SEDUCTIVE BARRY AT LAST

Is this Seconds?

Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 17:59 (twelve years ago) link

if you loosely interpret that first picture to be something about birthdays you could use these pics to be "MacArthur Park"

Babies

Melle Mel and the Coconuts (thewufs), Tuesday, 1 November 2011 18:03 (twelve years ago) link

Hit the nail on the head, DJP - I could not believe so many people voted for that little-known Pulp cover!

It is *VERY* hard to find a piture of a pregnant woman with a toddler who looks sad - all stock images in this world are happy ones.

#7 - SECONDS - 13 votes, two #1s, 327 points. First to get more than one #1 vote!

"Computer Love"?

lumber up, limbaugh down (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 1 November 2011 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

Seconds at #7 is the biggest surprise of the poll by far.

Pink Glove was my #1. The lyric kills me every time, I think I feel that one more personally, in my gut, than any other Pulp song. It's not even because the story in the song has happened to me IRL, but it just *feels so real* to me. I mean, who hasn't gone halfway crazy over loving someone who didn't love you back? If that feeling has been expressed in a song better than in "Pink Glove", I have yet to hear it.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 18:52 (twelve years ago) link

Heh, no - not Computer Love.

I think of Pink Glove & She's A Lady as songs that go, er, hand in hand, so was very surprised to see one rate so much higher than another! I was also pretty surprised about Seconds - not that it isn't good - just that it's never one that pops into my head as something I want to put on.
