I saw them play live last year and picked up the pre-album single, and yeah both were a bit disappointing, though I thought less for Sussex's vocals than for the fact that the music was much more generic vaguely slowcore Dirty Three ish indie-rock - still pretty but not nearly as distinct.

What I love about Please Keep Me Safe is how fantastically diverse and opulent it is, everything is its own miniature sound world with lots of twists and turns. And the lyrics! "I measure my height by marks on his arms" etc.
