The Reverend, Friday, 28 October 2011 20:54 (fourteen years ago)

oh my bad, i'm always getting those user names confused for some reason, but i know who you guys are

this is unusual for batman. (Jordan), Friday, 28 October 2011 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

btw what the hell is the bassist doing in that skrillex cover video?

The Reverend, Friday, 28 October 2011 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

i finally "got" skrillex when i realized he was in a screamo band (from first to last): a lot of his songs are really just screamo songs with electronic music sounds and wobble bass instead of chuggachugga guitar

∞th-wave ska (diamonddave85), Friday, 28 October 2011 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

xp looks like he has some sort of theremin-like midi controller on his thumb

∞th-wave ska (diamonddave85), Friday, 28 October 2011 21:11 (fourteen years ago)

I have never seen such a thing before

The Reverend, Friday, 28 October 2011 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

im also wondering about that glove he's wearing

∞th-wave ska (diamonddave85), Friday, 28 October 2011 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

looks like it might be this HotHand stuff: http://www.sourceaudio.net/products/hothand/index.php (found on one of the related videos, which are very lol)

∞th-wave ska (diamonddave85), Friday, 28 October 2011 21:22 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah there's a lot of predictable copycat lame rubbish out there, but it doesn't really apply to an artist like skrillex, who really has got some splendid ideas in there.

wait has this been verified

fauxmarc, Friday, 28 October 2011 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

splendid might have been hyperbole. i don't wanna rep for him to hard, i mean, it's not the best thing in the world OMG, but it's fun, y'know.

dog latin, Saturday, 29 October 2011 00:02 (fourteen years ago)

fauxmarc, Saturday, 29 October 2011 00:28 (fourteen years ago)

Classic. That guy's actual Reason tutorials are pretty good too.

dog latin, Saturday, 29 October 2011 00:55 (fourteen years ago)

i kinda want skrillex to pick up the band format again and be like a teenage Battles

∞th-wave ska (diamonddave85), Saturday, 29 October 2011 00:56 (fourteen years ago)

awesome

The Reverend, Saturday, 29 October 2011 02:25 (fourteen years ago)

Quite a lot of highly predictable italo, techno and rave has now been upgraded to classic status by the 40/50y old generation, so all is not lost dog latin...

yeah I reviewed a compilation of stuff on [impt brostep label] Circus Records a few months back and put something at the end like "expect to see a critical rehabilitation of this stuff in about 2023"

We All Had Guess Papers (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 29 October 2011 09:37 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah there's a lot of predictable copycat lame rubbish out there, but it doesn't really apply to an artist like skrillex, who really has got some splendid ideas in there.

Most of which he predictably copycatted off Reso and Lone Wolf off Bloodied Blade fame.

you want fries with that (flame grilled meat), Saturday, 29 October 2011 10:56 (fourteen years ago)

the from first to last thing doesn't give the skrillah a pass, even they were pretty derivative mall screamo in that hawthore heights / everytime i die / thursday etc camp, he doesn't need to go back to the band thing unless it involved dubstep guitar and willing himself out of existence

fauxmarc, Saturday, 29 October 2011 11:40 (fourteen years ago)

hah watching that cover performed live made me connect more with dubstep #rockist

dayo, Saturday, 29 October 2011 13:01 (fourteen years ago)

I guess dubstep filters are the new 5150 RIP melodeth

dayo, Saturday, 29 October 2011 13:02 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that drummer rules

⚓ (gr8080), Saturday, 29 October 2011 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

I was kinda thinking that when you are reading sci fi dystopian novels and they talk about punks and cyberpunk and w/e you kind of picture these guitars with computers in them and that's what the guys in that video have, a fucking wireless thumbring that wobbles the bass and the azn guy's got a pda ducttaped next to the knobs and it's all gated digital clipped shards

BROSTEP IS THE MUSIC OF THE FUTURE GET ON THE BULLET TRAIN NOW

it's time for the purpculator (psychgawsple), Monday, 31 October 2011 04:39 (fourteen years ago)

⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 31 October 2011 04:57 (fourteen years ago)

B&B is still kinda before my time, but i'm shocked that this didn't even get like 10% of the overzealous internet reaction as arrested development

J0rdan S., Monday, 31 October 2011 05:00 (fourteen years ago)

internet

Youth Ya Goon (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 31 October 2011 05:13 (fourteen years ago)

eh, everyone loved beavis and butthead. my mom loved it. i didn't.

fauxmarc, Monday, 31 October 2011 06:17 (fourteen years ago)

i'm not sure internet reactions really existed at the time past mailing lists

fauxmarc, Monday, 31 October 2011 06:18 (fourteen years ago)

he's talking about how bevis & butthead are back w/ new episodes, just like arrested development.

⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 31 October 2011 06:28 (fourteen years ago)

like, now. in 2011. watching skrillex videos.

⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 31 October 2011 06:28 (fourteen years ago)

ya it's p awesome (not skrillex)

it's time for the purpculator (psychgawsple), Monday, 31 October 2011 09:10 (fourteen years ago)

Sure it's a racket. Sure there's a lot of screeching and grinding and not a lot of sub. Sure Sonny Moore looks like a Vril-Ya crossed with Trent Reznor, but frogbs thing about it demanding your attention with fUCK YEaH vibes - what is wrong with that? Isn't that the point?

There's nothing wrong with that if its what you choose to listen to. I really like Guitar Wolf and Squarepusher but I wouldn't play it at a party.

frogbs, Monday, 31 October 2011 13:15 (fourteen years ago)

Would you play Kode9 at a party?

Mum-Ra Gaddafi the Ever-Living (dog latin), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

There's loads of stuff I like that I wouldn't play at a party.

Mum-Ra Gaddafi the Ever-Living (dog latin), Monday, 31 October 2011 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

I wouldn't, but I still hear this stuff all the damn time

dayo, Monday, 31 October 2011 23:15 (fourteen years ago)

The Reverend, Monday, 31 October 2011 23:37 (fourteen years ago)

dayo, Monday, 31 October 2011 23:57 (fourteen years ago)
